Canada: Trudeau’s Poll Numbers Collapse Six Months Before Election

"Trudeau’s foreign minister, Melanie Joly, chimed in with a threat to restrict Canadian energy imports to the United States if Trump imposes tariffs.

“What I can tell you is, everything is on the table,” Joly told CTV on Sunday morning.

Joly’s threat was immediately shot down by Danielle Smith, premier of the oil-rich Alberta province, who said her administration would not “support a tariff war with our largest trading partner and closest ally.”

“Alberta’s government believes that the pathway to strengthening this relationship is to double our oil production and increase exports of crude oil to the U.S., enabling them to export even more light oil to the rest of the world,” Smith said, after journeying to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida to meet with the president-elect."

New conspiracy theory: Trudeau resigned so Trump wouldn’t release his name with the Epstein list.

Based on what information?

Trump already had a chance to release the list, guys. He had like 18 months to do it. He didn't do it. Maybe he will, but what makes anybody think he will?

When are people going to stop believing Trump was elected to take down the deep state and arrest all the pedos? He didn't move an inch in that direction when he had 4 years to do it. Then, before he even hits office this go-round, he tries to appoint Gaetz to attorney general.

Don't stop believing.

I have no idea to be honest, I would say someone is afraid he will though. 🤷‍♂️

It’s a joke. Good grief.

Reactions: StarRaider

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott warned Trudeau against any retaliation that may be targeted at this state.

“Careful Trudeau,” Abbott wrote on social media Feb. 1. “The Texas economy is larger than Canada’s. And we’re not afraid to use it.”

In the "I sh!t bigger than you" category of diplomacy....

So when do Canadians go to the polls to actually elect the next PM?
Opposition and Conservative Party leader Pierre M. Poilievre pushed multiple times for a no-confidence vote late last year, before the Canadian Parliament went into recess on Jan. 6. When the parliament returns on March 24, Poilievre could revive his move to collapse the current Liberal coalition.

Canadian law also requires a general election by the end of October if Carney’s coalition stands. Carney is also able to call for an election, and almost 86 percent of Canadians supported an immediate general election to respond to Trump’s tariffs when polled in February.

Polling leading up to the election suggested Carney might survive an imminent general election, but the Liberal Party began trailing the Conservatives again in the last week.

looks likethey will still have an Oct election, as Trudeau has only been replaced by his party.

Canadian Liberals Select Globalist Technocrat Mark Carney to Replace Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister

The Justin Trudeau era is coming to a close in Canada, with the governing Liberal Party selecting former central banker Mark Carney as its new leader and eventual prime minister on Sunday.

The leadership contest sparked by Prime Minister Trudeau’s resignation in January came to a close on Sunday evening, with former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney winning the internal party election. Having won 85.9 per cent of the vote, Carney bested former finance minister and deputy PM Chrystia Freeland at 8 per cent, former cabinet minister Karina Gould at 3.2 per cent, and businessman and former MP Frank Baylis at 3 per cent, CBC reports.

Perhaps demonstrating a lack of enthusiasm, of the approximate 400,000 Liberal Party members who registered to vote in the leadership contest, CTV reports that just 151,899 votes were actually cast.

Under Canada’s parliamentary system, Carney does not automatically become prime minister but will have to wait for Trudeau to officially tender his resignation to the governor-general. After that, Carney will be invited to form a new government. This process is expected to be carried out within the next week.

Despite being a longtime advisor to Trudeau, including on economics and during the coronavirus lockdowns, Carney has attempted to cast himself as an outsider who can take the Liberal Party in a new direction and be a firm hand in the ongoing trade dispute with the United States and President Donald Trump.

However, critics, such as Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, have accused the former Goldman Sachs investment banker of being “sneaky” and of representing a doubling down of the failed economic and environmentalist Trudeau-era agendas.

During the Chinese coronavirus crisis, Carney served as an advisor to Boris Johnson’s government in Britain and later to Justin Trudeau’s government in Canada, both of which instituted some of the strictest lockdown restrictions in the Western world.
