Can you imagine a day when we no longer play Alabama every year?

I can live without playing the bubbas. It was a big deal when we stopped playing Auburn every year in the early 1990's. Now no one could care less about Auburn. Same way with Bama. Plus, they cheat!

It would destroy college football and tradition in the South. Your talking about a rivalry that the SEC is built on. Might as well take away OU-Texas and Michigan-Ohio State.

Yeah, but that is a big rival to each team.

Among the younger bubba generation, I would think Bama-Auburn is a bigger deal than Bama-Tenn. And among our fans, perhaps TN-gators is bigger than TN-Bama? Maybe, maybe not, on that one?

Wasnt Texas vs Texas A&M a big deal traditionally? That one is no more. The guys in control could care less about tradition, its all about the Benjamins! And I agree, it sucks!

I certainly can't, but can you? With a 9 SEC game schedule down the line, that one has to remain (along with AU-UGA) out of pure tradition and ratings, right? Those are two of the biggest rivalries in the SEC. You just can't toss those out, in my opinion. Anyway, how can you lose a rivalry like this below?

I think it would actually be great if we didn't play them each season. More often than not, it ends up as a loss for us.
Imagine if we were to win the East and beat "O Bama" along the way, then we met them again in Atlanta for the Championship. It is awfully difficult to beat a team once in the S.E.C. in a season, much less to beat them twice in one season.

It would be very difficult to get used to and I think short term it would damage the game - that being said I can image it and I can envision it - if the SEC goes to 16 then the days of playing bammer will be gone

over time I think we will build up other rivalries to mean more - ut florida will get even bigger - and whoever ends up challenging for the top 4 spots in the SEC east year in year out will develop into bigtime rivalries

but just b/c I can imagine it doesnt mean i like it and I really hope they keep some things sacred - 14 seems plenty big enough to me

I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be gone at that point as you could keep the 1 rivalry game from the other bracket

when you have 7 games from one side and 8 conference games, though, I just thought it could be a casualty

I know people talk about 9 conference games but that would likely lead to less SEC teams in bowl games b/c you'd have a better chance at your out of conference than in conference typically so I would think the # of conf games would likely stay at 8
