News flash p5 coaches don't change coaching jobs very often. Mullen and Taggert were the only two this year and ppl complained about that possibility. Other than that Kelly and Frost were the only other "homerun" hires and once again ppl complained about them (also neither one was ever considering TN). So we had to decide what coach had the most potential just like everybody else and I think we did that.

Don’t forget about Jimbo Fisher. It was just a crazy year for coaching changes. What is funny to me is Schiano. Where are all the schools wanting him to be the head coach? Maybe the browns will come calling soon.

Jeff Brohm was at a P5 and had Currie not botched the hiring process he would have been our HC. But then we would still have Currie. So, maybe a wash?

But hide and watch. Brohm is going to be the bomb. All things being equal talent wise, Pruitts defense isn't stopping Brohms offense. TIFWIW

I like Brohm don't know if he was ever coming or not. But one of the main reasons you pick a Pruitt is so the talent is never equal.

If you really want to be honest, none of those coaches were offered by Fulmer, they turned down the opportunity to interview. Tennessee has all the physical attributes for any coach. However, I think what some of you are forgetting, that the very right some exercised in not wanting the OSU coach.......by the way a DC. These other coaches have the same right to say, Hey! we don't like how much these UT fans get involved with the day to day activities of hiring and firing of staff.

So, the very thing that some praised the UT Fan for, some are horrified by what they saw and heard. When you start to polarize yourself, the "rank and file" are not going to support you. Most schools believe the fan should sit back like a bunch of mushrooms and whatever they decide, we should accept. So, many of these coaches were actually afraid to come in and have to deal with fans like us.........sorry, but its the truth.

CJP is someone who is confident in himself and saw a passionate fan base, and he wanted to be apart of this soooo bad, he agreed to a 6 year deal. He is our guy, and we should get behind him and support and watch what someone who actually has a winning history behind him do his job. The FANS have done their's, now stop debating the issue, the contract is signed......Coach Pruitt will come in and turn this team around, but we have to give him a fair amount of time to get better players in.

There is a double edge sword here for the fans and it will cut both ways. Don't sit back and pat yourselves on the back by speaking your mind and then turn around and wonder why HCs are not interested.........we built this reputation, live with it.

Go Vols!

OP, everyone is still hanging on the ledge of coaching death watch 2017. If you have a critique you've got to ease into it or you're going to get blasted. Oh, and you've also got to make sure you have all the relevant coaches listed as several posters have pointed out.

One of the many many reasons I've never started a thread.

Schiano and rightfully so due to his career .500 stat as a HC was rejected by the majority of Vol fans. Many glommed on to the Penn St thing as an after thought, but he stinks as a HC. Hiring that guy by UTAD was communicating they had a commitment to mediocrity. Literally no one in college football was lined up to hire Schiano if we did not. The Pruitt hire like the guy or his resume or not does not seem to be the type hire Schiano was. On the surface he appears to be a competitor and wants to win. The will is there. Will alone is never enough as people in these high stress competitive situations have to have the intangible of doing whatever it takes to win or prevail. Sometimes it take sheer force of will and brute force to get people to do what they need to do to prevail. Other times as the lead you have to be willing to change and modify core beliefs and teachings to win. Jones had the will, he did not have the ability to adapt, and failed. Pruitt appears to have the will time will tell if he can adapt to whatever it takes to be a champion at UT is my opinion.

I'm celebrating this morning! Can't decide what to put in my coffee. I think recruits will like his style, which has been outstanding everywhere he's been. I can't wait for O/W game. Get rid of Botch ball can play ball. I really can't come up with anything cause I'm in too good a mood for the 1st time in over 2 years. Our players will want to stay here after signing with us. I can't wait to bring on Vandy now!!!
