The stats support the early line and not your assertion.
As for UT being a 1 or 2 loss team right now... one of the talking heads said UT was playing like a top 15 team right now. Yes, they started out poorly and have gotten better each week... which runs directly against your opinion. They've gotten better therefore it IS reasonable to expect them to crush Memphis. If they were the same team that played UCLA... then no.
I began my post with "TENN is a team that is improving"...how does that run "directly" against it?
I've witnessed many games that UT was a heavy favorite v.s. Memphis and barely walked away with a victory. We have more talent and we are improving as a team week to week, though Memphis will try to to do everything they can to beat us. This is their "bowl" game, pretty much always has been. They will not just roll over.
Here are some examples of the close ones:

'00 - 19 - 17
'99 - 17 - 16
'96 - 17 - 21
'94 - 24 - 13
'92 - 26 - 21
'85 - 17 - 7
I understand what your trying to state here. Sometimes stats can give an accurate insight to how the game will unfold. Although, there are times when stats are just, well...stats.
Not much difference in Memphis & western Ky....memphis pretty much sucks all the way around,UT should be able to line up and run it down their throat...and on the other side i don't see memphis scoring over 10 pts!
