Can we STOP pressing our influence now?

Look I'm fine with supporting Kevin Steele or whoever but I'd like us to actually take a shot. If Phil thinks Dave Doeren is a good hire, I'm not sure he realizes our ceiling. I'd just like to swing for the fences on someone now. Idk if it can happen with as much turmoil that has went down but I'd lie him to try. Everyone wants Fulmer to be successful, I'm not sure hiring someone like Doeren, Steele, etc and them telling us they're rebuilding is going to cut it.

Fulmer has a lot of love from the fanbase but we're starved for a good football coach. We give tons of support and money and all it buys is excuses

Excellent point!

Now is not the time to let up.

Let Fulmer know we will not settle.

I would advise that people also stop living in fantasy land about Gruden, Kiffin or Petersen being back in play.

I can’t believe I am seeing people mention it

And I would advise you to mind your own business while we conduct our NEW coaching search not under the direction of Jimmy Haslam.

You already got your overpaid, sub .500 in conference play coach. Now leave us to our own search.

Continued vigilance to keep the Haslams on the sideline will be required over the long term. Control freaks don't just quietly slink away - they scheme for revenge and a return to power.

This is what I'm thinking. If Haslam is not stopped, he will pout for a while, then come around looking for a weak spot, find it, and weasel his way back into commanding control of UT sports once again. That must not be allowed if we want UT athletics to become prominent once again. Be civil about it whenever possible, but continue to let your voice of support be heard.

The best thing anyone can do right now is to let Fulmer operate in peace and hire the best coach he can get and then we need to support whoever that new head coach is even if it's not our personal favorite and hope that he (maybe she) is awesome. If the team starts winning big again there will be an infusion of support from diverse persons, which will undermine undue influence by any one donor.

Let Gruden Go!!
And Peyton doesn't want to Coach either,
They're both multi millionaires,,

Let it go, Please

I've let it go. But imagine this, Gruden being HC would be the absolute icing on the cake of this crazy train. We are already dominating all sports media and we aren't even ranked! We were 0-8 in SEC and the championship game tomorrow?? Man they can't stop talking about us.

But I want Tee.
Wanted Norvell but it's all about Orange blood now.

A) fans using the name Gruden is one of the worst things to happen to Tennessee football .

B) that said if Fulmer brings us a hire worse than Mike Leach he should be fired too.

I don't want to hear it.

After we dropped the bomb and won the war, you are the soldier taking out a K bar and stabbing the dead bodies 20 times. No more of the nonsense.

We haven't won any war (and I would be the Marine with a K bar not a soldier). It has always been about the coaching job. Hire someone good we win. Hire someone bad we lose. Fulmer played a great long game, and I will give him credit. Now he better deliverer.

We stopped Schiano, possibly helped to discourage Doeren from taking the job, got Currie fired, and got Fulmer in place over Haslam’s guy. Pretty incredible work by our fanbase. If we had not done anything, Schiano would be coach and Currie still would be AD, and Haslam would still be pulling all the strings. Now we just need to let Phil do his job and support the new coach that he hires.

Well done Vols fans! We came together at* the right time to press our influence and stop the wrong hire, didn't let up until we got a UT person in charge of some things. Ms. Davenport has seen the picture and gave us our guy. Seriously, Congratulations.

That being said, can we please shut up on social media, get the national media off our behinds and let ADF make a great hire? PLEASE!

Yeah we can’t reach for the launch codes each time something comes up that chaps us going forward. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad we did in both of these cases and I’m proud of us.

However we got the keys in the hands of the one consensus person we could agree with. We extracted that stain Currie from our AD. From listening to Dr Bev today she is clearly strained by all this and I would expect will do whatever she can to avoid anything like it again ( gonna guess she got a huge ear full from Prez Joe ).

So give Coach Phil some space and the benefit of the doubt. Don’t retire the launch codes but you can’t reach for them every time or we will just be the fan base that cried wolf.

Nuclear weapons aren’t effective because anyone expects they will actually get nuked. They are effective at the thought that the owners have the intestinal fortitude to use them.

Ok we just repeated Hiroshima on Sunday and Nagasaki on Tuesday. They know we WILL use the launch codes. Now it’s time to go into deterrence mode.

(And no I’m not making light of those two highly effective but horrible strikes. It’s a decent example. And I believe more life was lost in the Tokyo firebombing runs also)

Those are just battles. What is wrong with wait and see? He has the power, let’s see how he uses it now. War might be nearing a end, but it’s not over until it’s over. Fulmer is not exempt from criticism.

Yeah I agree with that. I’m just saying we have to pick our battles to a certain extent.

Yes Please. And, can we stop believing every rumor that comes along? It's now Phil's job to select our next coach. I trust him to get it right. I also trust he knows way more than I on this topic.

I have some swamp land in West Texas I'd like to get rid of?

Finally we have an experienced sports guy who truly cares about Tennessee in charge of our athletics programs and not just another empty suit with an MBA. Yep, the adults are back.
