As a longtime Vols fan is there any reason for posters to to refer to the town?People from TN know there is a Martin and Chatanooga...Not to belittle those schools but I am pretty sure Texas is the UT of that state.Last I checked we are in a battle for the UT..It's the orange baby!

eh, it does not matter to me. I guess by avoiding the K we are saving a fraction of a second, so kill the K!

We are,FIRST, The University of Tennessee !!!!! Then We are(not in any particular order, "UT",UT Vols, Univervisity of Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols, The Big Orange,Tennessee,The Tennessee Vols,The Vols and The Volunteers. There are plenty to choose from. Granted the older fans(ME),are not used to the use of the K in UTK. I personally don't feel the need to use the K for Knoxville but it has been used on ocassision for as long as I remember. Not an issue. For those who chose to use it feel free. I'm content with "UT" and Tennessee Vols. As I Fan I understand!!!! Go Big ORANGE !!!!!

I don't like the K either, but it was in use before I attended.

This is also like the UNC at Chapel Hill stuff. They hate UNC-CH with a passion. I love it when Jeff Saturday for the Colts always says he graduated from the "University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill". He knows everybody there hates that. I wonder who he is trying to stick it to? :)

I agree.....we don't need the K behind the UT. We ARE the UT.....the original. You never hear Texas referred to as UTA! Texas fans can scream all they want.....There will only be the one and only UT........The Vols! Sik 'em Smokey

Actually, yes. I have heard of people in Texas refer to UTA. UT-Arlington.

People adding the "K" has always been one of my pet peeves, its not like people think you are talking about UT Chatt. or UT Martin. UT is all that is needed. Trust me, we know what you mean if you just use "UT"

I got to UTC and agree that there is no reason for UT to have to put a K at the end of their name.

I hate the K too... makes me worry that some people who don't know where UT is located see the utk and think I went to some satellite school in Tennessee. I'm sure Martin and Chattanooga are fine schools, but I don't want to be associated with them. I went to the University of Tennessee, and don't want that confused with something else.

Officially the university did away with it about 5 years ago, while I was in school. People just still use it.

If you've ever been in Chattanooga, and you say "UT", most people immediately think of UTC. I believe in towns where there's another campus, the "K" is completely necessary.

And I also say. Kill the K.

I thought it stood for Kiffin.

Don't panic, just kidding. Actually, we see the power T around our town, it's not like someone is going to confuse it with Texas logos.

Lot's of colleges with football teams, you should have to deal with the letter A.

I have to disagree.I'm from Chattanooga and my whole family still lives there, and those are not UTC flags flying from everyones cars.
