Can we lay to rest the...

“It’s easy to dominate with 5 stars at every position” bullcrap that some people love to say when discussing Pruitt’s body of work. Bama’s defense has looked like Swiss cheese with those same players. Matter of fact Pruitt was down pretty much all of his linebackers towards the end of the year last year. We have our football coach, let’s let him coach
Bama did look to take a step backwards without Pruitt defensively.

What are you talking about? Who said anything about 2-9?

"The team looked like an unorganized, inmotovated mess in 9 of 11 games."

They had 2 "organized or motivated" appearances.
9 "unorganized or inmotivated?" ones.

Theres a reason you don't mention the record because that doesn't get your point across the same way.

Your quote above can be described as a catastrophe in a 12 game schedule.

Clearly is comments motivated his team to play better, right?
Clearly you misrepresented what was said and when called out on it you claimed the quote I provided that showed as much wasn't the one you were referring to.

When asked to provide the one you based your comments on for clarification, there was no response.

Yes. Your agenda was exposed then no different than now.

2 of the teams 3 best performances followed those comments along with a couple that didn't. You have no point there.

I didnt represent anything, I said I didnt like the comments which is my opinion.

Several of the worst performances followed those comments...and wasnt popular opinion on those performances that players quit? Sorry I lose track of all the excuses used to explains Pruitt's team poor performances.

We were not discussing the record. We did briefly and still came up with nearly the same result.

See post #28 over in the thread below. Over a 4 year recruiting period leading up to last night's game, Bama has recruited nearly twice as many 5* and 4* players as Clemson. You have to recruit well, but you don't have to 'cruit like Goliath to beat Goliath. Clemson settled that issue not once but twice.
A look at team performance vs recruiting quality
Coaching matters for sure, recruiting 5* players makes it easier.

Lol. Pruitt made a statement to the players who were doing things "the right way", claiming he would go recruit 25 guys for them to play with (paraphrasing). That got turned into Pruitt claiming his entire team sucked and was making excuses for why Bama won by 40.

How would you define playing 2 well organized and motivated games?

That was your statement.
Let me approach it this way...in Tennesees 11 games, how many of them looked good in terms of overall team performance, regardless of outcome?

I'm letting you determine that in this case.

If your right why is that not considered a catastrophe, that you re now running away from.

Not running away from anything, you said that not me. I said he didnt do a very good job.
You can act like I said something and act like im running away from what you said I said if you wish. Kinda devalues your argument though.

Yup Clemson has not had top 5 recruiting teams. The coaching, team philosophy, heart, and structure has made them elite.

They both do.

Clemson has done it different than most in recruiting, and they have a QB you wouldnt trade for anyone else.
I loved how humble Lawrence was during his post game interview. He said he wasn't even responsible for half the team's success and seemed really surprised with himself. I'm so sad he's not ours 😥. That's an all around great kid right there.

Stars do matter in many instances. I honestly can't think of any 3 * QB that started as a true freshman. Trevor Lawrence is Peyton 2.0

If we had Trevor this past season, I really feel we could have been 7-5 minimum.
That kid is a beast. I can definitely see him being the next great NFL QB.

You seem to be struggling to get folks to understand how you feel.

Instead of saying what CJP didn’t do, didn’t do good or didn’t do very good, post how you feel he did do.

By posting he didn’t do a good job, only you know what you are thinking.

How bad of a job do you think he did?

I disagree that the Vols looked like trash 10 of the 12 games they played.

Even the games that got away from us they didn’t look like trash the whole time either.

Do you have any games picked out to attend this year?

I haven’t been to a Ga game for a while so that’s part of plan A.

I’d like to make the trips to Fl and Bama too. We’ll see.

Couple of my takeaways and questions about last night's game. Why didnt saban put in hurts after tuas 2nd interception? Not using those timeouts? They ran the ball a lot to eat up the clock and run down Clemson defense but obviously that didn't work. It was obvious it wasn't working. I'm just surprised at bamas overall game plan. I thought this was going to be an air raid type of game. Bama in no way looked like an elite team. How long til y'all think Saban retires?

Clemson does quality over quantity. They recruit like Bama they just take way less players so the class rank is lower. Their star average is always very high.

The only thing this shows is what Saban learned a couple years ago and I hope Pruitt learned last year.
You don't win running the ball and playing ball control offense. You have to open it up and pass the damn ball.

Not at all it actually makes my point.
You feel the need to remind the board almost daily that UT had 2 organized and motivated games out of 12 (while not mentioning their actual record unless its brought up).

But when that's defined as catastrophic you pause.

If this is a pile on Pruitt chat, then get off! The man started with zip. We had the worst OL in college football. Look it up in last wks post. Even Botch got more time to pile on his bricks. I think CJP is on the right track. Botch worried about his flat top haircut more than the football team. Don't think Pruitt is worried about his haircut. Recruiting is his focus. Clemson is in our backyard and we gotta get a fence up.

Actually I think Bama wins lastnight if it went back to its old style and pounded those three backs they have. Saban is a little too pass happy these days. Kiffin strikes again...

I didnt compare it to last year. Glad you are happy with 5-7 and a team that looked like trash in 9 of 11 games

No one is calling Pruitt the next Dabo or Saban. Some of us are simply acknowledging improvement in record and SEC wins over the previous year with a roster full of another coach’s recruits who have a loser mentality. It shouldn’t make you defensive.

How was pounding the rock going to stop the show on O Clemson put on? I know the pick six but they were scoring regardless when they touched the ball.

Saban has known the last few years that when teams are close in talent they need a high scoring o. The 24-17 big game is a thing of the past for the most part.

I think with the interviews Pruitt has come to that realization finally. We need a wide open o.

You aren't holding good teams to 21 anymore for the most part.
