That, with everything that has happened so far this week (Pat, former coaches being given show causes, janzen) this is one of the worst weeks in UT sports history?

I've only been alive since 1990, and only fully understood UT sports around 98 or so. So, if there was a worse string of events in as short a time as this, then I don't know if I want to hear about it... And its only Wednesday.

Try not to worry about most of that stuff. It's almost football time in Tennessee!

Pat can still coach and will. You're minus one pot head on the football team, and your coaches have had a huge weight lifted off their collective shoulders in all the sports you care about. Step away from the ledge and get ready to enjoy the start of another Football season.

the only things horrible about this week have been the news on PHS and being reminded of the Douglas story.

I don’t care for your tone sir. Way too positive and rational for these parts imo...

He was 15. He was too busy ravaging his sock drawer.

Past three years have been the worst three years in program history. Past three days? Not so much.

Since we're piling on, the Colts (and Kerry Collins) seem to think Peyton might miss the first game or two. 'Course that can't compare with a tragic disease, the end of a fine coaching career and losing our best pot head.

Were the Vols thinking about trading for Peyton?!?!?

And here I thought he was out of eligibility...

People were extending our woes to the plight of former coaches, so I thought a former player could be calculated into the misery meter. You know, since he's donated millions to the university, always has something nice to say about UT and has that facility named after him. :hi:

Last few years have been an epic cluster *****. This kind of feels like the final icing on the cake though. Maybe some positive breaks could start rolling in at this point?! Seems like it has been week after week after week of one disappointment or another for the last 3 years now.

I am in shock about the JJ thing and worried about CPS.

JJ has really shot his pro aspirations in the foot. The guy just had to keep his nose clean, walk the line, show out on the field and he would have been a multi-millionaire by this time next year. Wow, just wow. I'm sure he still makes it there considering his talent, but what a setback for him and UT.... Good thing we brought in like 500 secondary guys this year! Of course, I haven't really heard many observers raving about their performances in fall camp thus far. I think Loften not making it in hurts us a lot more now as well. Brewer is good, but JJ would have likely been a first rounder for us, maybe a top 10 pick. That would have helped CDD's recruiting message on the trail in the future. Just kind of feels like another in a long string of kicks in the gut that have come to typify UT Football as of late.

I have no idea how we will ever find a candidate that is capable of even sniffing the kind of success and prestige that CPS has brought to UT. There is no way to even come close. The only good news I can think of is that at least Mike Hamilton will play absolutely NO part in finding a replacement when the time does come for her retirement.

I'll be praying for the both of them though, along with UT for that matter. Not sure our collective psyches can take much more of these negative surprises at this point, has anyone started a UT fan support group yet? Might need a meeting before long:disappointed:

Go VOLS!

I wasn't saying I was on the ledge or anything. I don't think JJ single handedly costs us or wins us any games this year. Not with the talent we have in the secondary.

Also, to the jokes about me being young. I was there when we beat Florida in 98 and my parents got a Tee Martin Fiesta Bowl uni that still hangs in my closet to this day. I didn't fully understand EVERYTHING, but I knew who won.

And, Wendy Peppercorn was the hottest thing this side of the junkyard fence.
