Can we all now agree that the timing of the firing doesn't matter?

All of that *****ing and moaning about needing to do it RIGHT NOW, all of that *****ing and moaning about other schools "beating us to the punch"...the first team to hire a new coach was the one who fired their old one just 6 days ago. The school that was supposedly proactive and supposedly got a head start to find the best coach out there was the one who lost that very same race. It doesn't ****ing matter - a firing is a firing.

If it was done sooner maybe 8 loses could be avoided. And maybe better record would be a little more appealing to coaches.

And if it was done later, maybe 8 losses could've been avoided too. We've seen that firing them early definitely can cause more losses, with 2008 as exhibit A.

I think it's pretty clear by now that 8 losses wasn't going to be avoided, and a coach isn't going to change a life-altering decision by seeing the numbers "5-7" instead of "4-8" on a sheet of paper.

Really? You really think Hoke could have gotten us more wins? The guy blows as a HC and as a DL coach. It wouldnt have mattered when he took over. Our team sucks and is not nearly as talented as we thought.

It doesn't matter IF the AD is doing his or her job by sending out feelers and getting talks done through agents. An incompetent AD fires and starts the search from scratch. Firing after the last game of the season without a single feeler being sent out is how you end up with terrible hires that damage the program.

What in the last two weeks showed you this team got any better? At this point, they are what they are, the worst football team in UT history.

Honestly I think Butch didn't care if he won or lost he was going to do it his way. Either way he gets paid . So he was driving the bus down the wrong street and did not care so he should have been fired after GA . But no it really did not matter .

Keeping that sh!t a$$ around as long as we did let him screw them up even further.

I blame the Butch ball washers and light switch Ds for this 8 loss season.

What Currie should have done is show up at practice following the UMass and UGA meltdowns and ride Butch. Question his decisions and ask what new plays he was installing that week. Get in his face and call out his manhood— you know the same way Butch did the players. Force him to make changes, coach him to improve the product, or make his life so miserable that he storms off the field - at which time you accept his resignation (and whatever money he might owe us at that moment for quitting).

Problem with that theory is that Currie is not a football guy and doubt he’d be able to coach him up. Barry Alvarez seems be able to help his coaches in Wisconsin.

I disagree....firing him last year would have mad a difference....so timing does matter. We waited entirely to long.

No. If we agreed on anything, we wouldn't have any fun.

I'm of the opinion that most of the posters screaming for FCBJ to be fired immediately cared far more that their predictions that he needed/would be fired were accurate than how it impacted wins and losses or recruiting. All those excuses were unadulterated BS then and have been proven to be so.

Many of the same were terrified we might have a winning season and FCBJ get credit for it. So even though it was detrimental to the program, even though we're likely going to end up with a Dave Clawson level coach and even though it meant Jauan Jennings get kicked of the team, most don't care. They were simply happy to play a role (by whining so loudly that it effected the players) in getting a coach fired.

If anyone thinks the next coach is going to be treated to something different and dont think that there is a very high probability that in 2020 the same dumbasses will start again and by 2022 we will likely be in even worse shape, i would guess that you're in for a surprise. An unpleasant surprise...

But that's okay, we got Butch fired so it was a successful season for some...

Actually, most fans wanted him fired in the hopes of salvaging a winning season and avoiding the embarrassment of being the first 8 loss team in school history.

Not everyone craves e cred on Vol Nation such as yourself.

Doing that violates the general agreement language of the contract a coach operates under and would alienate a good percentage of the roster from the AD.

However, I hope regardless of who gets the job that Currie or someone from his office is not a stranger at practices. Maybe someone like the nun from the Blues Brothers with a yard stick.
