Can Vols finish second?

I could probably figure this out myself, but I'm not sure of what the tiebreakers are for basketball. I'm guessing record against eastern teams is next in line behind overall conference record.

What I'm asking is what needs to happen for us to finish second in the East?

I know this is the last thing that we need to be concerned with, but I just think it's awesome that we still have a chance to get that first round bye in the SEC tourney.

actually, i think it would be bad for tenn to get a first round bye in the tournement....the vols ideal position would be 3rd in the east so that they can play the easiest game on thursday....right now the vols' purpose in the sec tournement should be win a couple and get out...

If ur a #3 seed u don't want to win more than 2 games, esp if your tenn unless our tournement hopes depend on it.

If we finish 2nd in the east...we get a first round bye and face a tough team on friday which we could lose. So by finishing 3rd int he east, we have a high chance of getting at least one win the tournement.

Don't know if that made any sense but i'd rather finish thrid in the east.

I'd rather win the SEC tournament and bring home some hardware and be hot goin into the tourney. Ya heard me?

Miguel thinks wi need to one out of last 3.. Puts us at 20-11 goin tu sec tourney..maybe win one and lose one there be 21-12 ncaa selechion time..Go Vols

Yeah, I thought about that, but I figure to finish 2nd in the East we would need at least two more reg. season wins. That would put us at 9-7 in the league and at 21 wins.

Even if we lost by 30 in the first round of the tourney there is no way we don't get in with 21 wins and our RPI.
