How Pearl went 19-14 (4-6 last 10 games of the reg season) his last year and got into the tournament? But Martin goes 20-12 (8-2 end of reg season) and doesn't?

Not sure, but if I'm on the committee and I watch the way UT played with a possible tournament berth on the line against Bama, I don't put them in.

NIT preseason championship, wins over top 10 BE teams Nova and Pitt, two wins over Belmont, MTSU and a huge beat down over top 25 Memphis. We sucked coming down the stretch but we had final four buzz coming off that Pitt win and then the wheels fell off.

We looked like a top 5 team for half of the season, then BP got caught up in all of the media worries...Mike Hamilton didn't do much to help that either.

I look at the season before that and it's amazing what we did. Besides the massive beatdown by Kentucky in the championship, we were solid from start to finish. 1 point from a final four :(

We beat VCU too. Is that the year they went to the final 4 though? But still my point is. We started the year out strong picking up some good wins. But towards the end of the season we weren't even .500 in the last 10 games. Is the beginning of the season that much more important?

It's was all about the OOC resume(wins+losses). Plus we swept Vandy. You can't compare resumes from different years as the committee focuses on different things every time.

Please go look up the 2010-2011 season. There were worse loses than that.

I would imagine because the SEC wasnt the 8th toughest conference back then. Parity is a B*&%#

I feel the frustration amongst the fans. Everyone is looking for an escape goat. Fact is we knew coming into this season we still didn't have a point guard. What we didn't know was our best player wouldn't play a single minute. Two things we learned. Mc-hang 30 on you at any given time Rae. Stepped up and played awesome at times. He still needs to improve his ball handling skills. When he does look out. And Stokes. Young and still inexperienced coming into his sophomore season learned how to play without Maymon. Now tell me. I know everyone is sick of hearing wait until next season. But does anyone not see the potential for our best team since the elite 8 team. This team should be scary good.

You can debate number of wins all day, but it's the quality of those wins that matters most. Mtsu will attest to this (sarcasm)

@ Kentucky and Bama aren't bad but to debate who would have gotten us in and what didn't help doesn't do any good. You could make the case for almost every loss on our record. It doesn't matter. :horse:

RPI was 35, what tony jones did with scheduling was amazing.

Well, he's just over in Alcoa, so maybe he can help out again...or is he still in NCAA jail...you know because 2 of his Final Four teams records were expunged due to infractions....oh wait...

The first 7 games. After that we lost 3 in a row to bad teams and dropped out of the Top 25.
