If so, I'd chase down Al Wilson faster than Eric Berry and offer him some sort of position. ANY sort of position he would take. Would be huge to have these guys inspiring the young'ns during games.

If they are not a part of the main staff, they can be on the sidelines. Just not during games. That is where the coaches roam. Not the support staff. If they later get promoted to an actual position coach or coordinator, then they get to be there. Not until.

Correct, but why would you be on the sideline If there were no game being played I just call it practice.I'm JK.
And yes, too many coaches in your ear is not helpful.
My question. Can they (support staff) be in the booth during a game?
