Can I just vent about the Sports Animal

So you did not call their call-in show and ask about the news?

On a side note, you take over an hour to get ready in the morning? You fancy or something?

Haha...
I don't call radio shows, not my thing.
And, I'm old and retired, and listen to a lot of sports talk radio. So, it's usually on during the day to either Swain, Basilio, or (my favorite college sports talk host) Chuck Oliver who is based here in Atlanta.

FYI,...I'm listening to sports animal now and News Sentinel Sports Page guys are talking about Williams story.

I like chuck Oliver but sometimes the ACC talk bores me

I don't mind any of sports animals shows besides doc, Jeff and Heather. That is the worst show on the radio

Heather and Chuckles got into an on-air shouting match. Heath was especially snippy.

It was classic, I can't remember all the details but Heather was very snippy and sounded like a spoiled child (as she always does). Even when I lived in the area I would tune in from time to time and the 3 of them are awful. I'm not saying I would be any better but they ****. I don't expect a local station to be a bunch of homers but there's enough to talk about when it comes to UT sports that they can fill the majority of their time. I don't mind the occasional NFL, NBA, etc talk because it's updates in the sporting world. But if I want to hear about how great Ohio St, Kentucky, Alabama are...I can turn on ESPN and listen to Mike and Mike kiss their butts on a daily basis.

Next caller: a stuttering regular named Roger who wants to talk to Heather about his putt-putt hole-in-one. Only Heather isn't on air. If you don't absolutely lose it when the discussion about the putt-putt course keeping your golf ball comes around, you're a better man or woman than me.
Seriously, you can't make up local sports talk radio.

The Roger part made the whole episode just simply amazing. Anybody that's not familiar with Roger, he is the sweetest man, a simply outstanding human being. For him to innocently follow that angry outburst to talk about his round of Putt-Putt could not have been more perfectly scripted.

You can literally hear listeners switching stations when Roger calls.

There are some people that need to email their questions in and not call in! I'm not the skinniest or fittest guy on the planet. Therefore, I don't wear a Speedo to the beach! :)

The roger situation probably drives radio producers nuts. I'll admit, when I hear him on WVLZ I turn it off. I guess that's not nice for me to do but I don't find it entertaining. I glad the kid gets enjoyment out of it

Great analogy Boca, haha. "Man's gotta know his limitations..."

This is going to be self indulgent, so you might want to stop reading right now if you hate these type of posts.

Each morning, while getting breakfast and doing bathroom stuff, I listen to the Swain event on my iPad.
He (for some reason that Stokes may explain here?) wasn't on this morning. Maybe technical problems?

So, I did something really stupid that I hadn't done in years. I turned in the Sports Animal, yeah, :loco: I know.
Anyway, first thing I do is hear Heather say that Jimmy Hyams is reporting the P.Williams ACT news.
After throwing my razor across the room and scaring the crap out of my dog, I listened to the grump, the lump, and the pump hoping they would go further into this story.
Did they? Of course not.
No talk about what this might mean to team, wr position, Jennings move, the wait on Von Pearson.
I actually listened thru an hour of high school football and women refereeing and coaching men.
Ahhhhhhh!!!!!
You just got a breaking story from one of your own reporters, Hyams, about one of UT's most heralded incoming recruits, and, you don't talk about it??!!@ or have Hyams on to give details?

Sorry for the rant. Nobody to blame but myself for expecting anything more from those moronic maroons.

Sorry for the delayed response. Just now seeing this.

We took today off since we haven't really had a vacation this year except for a day here and there. It's going to be balls to the wall starting Monday.

I could be wrong but I think that Swain and Stokes buy that air time. They are not employees of WVLZ. So, if they are independent contractors, that would explain why the national Yahoo sports show airs when Swain/Stokes are not on the air.
Maybe our friendly poster Stokes will see this and reply?

You are correct. We do buy our airtime. If Swain is off I try to fill in and if I have to miss then he does it on his own but when we are both off then the station does have Yahoo Sports Radio to fall back on.

Thanx, Seth.
I would love to know what you and Swain think of the Preston Williams situation. Hate you were off today.
Hope you guys are done taking time off until football season is over...lol.

That's the reason we took today off because there aren't really any more days off until Thanksgiving.
