Not with this roster no. If he hires the right people behind him and shows he can do what needs to be done, long term why can he not. It will take time, and I am not sure this fanbase is willing to accept anything but immediate.

Kiffin ,Dooley, Jones or Pruitt didn't. I'll cheer for Heupel until he proves to be as bas as those listed before.

Heupel's pluses are he can beat Tulsa, Pitt, and Cincy..................sometimes.

He thought "what in the hell did I get myself into"? I'm sure he was astounded to find out how few coaches would even want to talk to him about this job. Add to that the marching order or his own choice not to even consider a Sexton client, and the field dwindled to zilch. He had one hope and that was to bring his last hire along with him since the fans at UCF were less than happy with him. He was the only choice White had. We'll see the same problems in trying to hire a staff. It will likely come from cast offs and UCF guys.

Huepel WILL score points. A lot of them. And any time you do, you have a much better shot at winning! I’m optimistic he’ll win one of the Big Three in year 1!
Offense makes a team (and fan base) BELIEVE.

Jones did beat UF and UGA

Kiffin beat UGA....

I'm not feeling it with Huepel.
But I'm anxious to see what he brings

We need to worry about beating those we should beat. Sorry to say, this year will set us back. Hopefully he has us competing with the big boys in about three years. Hope is all we have after this debacle with JP and Nieds.

I’m trying to be realistic here, our program is way behind the 8 ball and will be for a few years. We just need to beat SC, KY, Vandy, and Mizzou consistently first

His offenses score enough points to beat the big 3. Only time will tell. We need a great Defense to go along with the offensive points.

There are plenty of questions out there.

Can he recruit?

Can he repair the damage done to recruiting within the state caused by Jeremy Pruitt?

Can he squeeze every inch of talent out of this squad to build the kind of positive momentum Pittman has after his first season at Arkansas?

If these questions get answered in the affirmative, then we'll get ourselves to the place where we can reach out and slap those bastards.

So the only coach that's worth hiring is one that can bring a National Championship every year? Because if you beat those three, you're in the college playoffs every year.

Now let's back that up - we're a school that has hemorrhaged talent, will most likely be on massive sanctions, and by all accounts, has a completely inept administration for the past decade. So would Saban, Meyer, Smart, or Mullen come here? No, no they would not.

I know nothing about this guy. Don't really care what everyone says because there is nothing I can do about it. I'll just sit back and see how it goes -- but I am a bit more realistic about what Tennessee is today.

The bigger question is this: Why does Tennessee believe they deserve this caliber of coach? Why do we get an immediate fix? After how we've fumbled everything the last 15 or so years, I think it's high time we took our medicine and realized a rebuild and slow grind is what the doctor ordered. We've got to earn it -- the hard way.
