Can Croom slide into 4thround?

Right. He was supposed to be a 5-star wide receiver, but he sucked as a wide receiver, so they moved him to TE. He couldn't catch as a wide receiver, and he couldn't catch or block as a tight end.

Dude, I don't know who you were watching. Not a big Croom fan but don't go saying he couldn't catch. He was respectable but just too big and not quick enough to be a WR. He should be a fine back-up NFL TE.

I AM a Croom fan.

I didn't think that he would be a superstar, although he looked the part.

I appreciate his switch to TE and HOPED that he would have a break out year. oh well. I'm glad he was a VOL.

Thanks for sending him to us MZ Terry and good luck with the Bills, although I don't watch the NFL anymore.

I think Croom has potential but he needs some private coaching to get up to speed. I agree his catching needs improvement as does/did all the receivers at UT. Then he got poor coaching in blocking. One more year at TE would have really helped him. Could have been a great TE.

I've always been a Croom guy and I think he can have a good career. So I will stick by him. I wish him the best. All our guys for that matter.

I still think he has a chance to get drafted.

Thoughts?

If you switch from WR to TE your senior year, you better have very prolific numbers if you expect to get drafted. Nearly all the drafted players had more than one year of film for scouts to watch, and there were plenty of more experienced tight ends waiting for the phone to ring after pick 253. Long term, the move might lead him to Canton, but rarely to being drafted. Tribusky is an exception, not the rule.

Some team will be intrigued enough by his size to bring him in as an UFA. It's possible they think a little coaching up net's them a diamond in the rough.

"Coaching up" would be a strange phenomenon for almost anyone on the Lyle Jones roster.

Croom will be a disappointment to whoever drafts him. He is living breathing walking proof that sometimes looks are deceiving.
