To say he is on the hot seat is an understatement. Thinking he must keep Wilcox and fire Chaney to survive. Thing is didn't most of think we looked fairly good against Cincy? Everything else is bad for the most part. I m just a hurting VOL fan paying hard earned bucks for tickets, gas and hotels. But u know what I'll be back for more and hope for a better team in 2012. Go VOLS

Everyone got lulled into thinking we were better than we actually were because of that game, including me.

Cincy had one of the worst pass defenses in the nation last year and up thru the time we played them. It wasn't hard to look good against them. What was our running yards ?

Agree, but we all saw Rogers and Hunter look like Randy Moss and Jerry Rice and thought they would do that every week, and by week 6, we look like this  for thinking that

Cincy lost 1 game until they lost their QB. That 1 was to us. IMO, with their QB they would be a 1 loss team right now.

It is possible that he could recover, but in this case, he won't. He doesn't get the players excited to play. I know, Fulmer wasn't exactly full of joy when he coached a game. I saw Dooley show the most emotion this season, during the Vandy game when his staff insisted that he challenge the interception by Gordon. Other than that, I didn't see him attempt to show emotions and get the players fired up.
Gruden does. Cowher does. Trooper does.

And then we lost jerry rice the next week and randy got doubled team the rest of the year because of no running game..............

Dooley will be our coach through 2012 season, but after, only time will tell

Generally positive people avoid sites in times like these so I'm not convinced of a majority of opinion here or in other sites, but yes he can if given enough time. If he doesn't dismiss Da'Rick and possibly Bray, he may not make it. It's a hard road when the tail wags the dog.

I think he's done. His buyout may keep him here for awhile, but he's alienated too many people. Losing to UK and ending that streak, then trying to downplay it as a "needed loss" and "a silver lining" pretty much killed his chances of a comeback.

Wish I had a crystal ball or a friend in close to give me the inside info. I really don't know. If I were Dooley I would drop Chaney and try to find a really well respected OC that could lend CDD some cred he desperately needs to get the players to buy back in. If the players will play for Dooley and his OC then winning will fix what's wrong and the fans will "get with the program", so to speak. I've heard that CJC is the man and I've heard that he isn't. If the players don't believe in him and his schemes then they won't play their best for him. If the players won't play then Dooley is doomed.

I'm hoping CDD can get things fixed, but I'm looking at Wilcox as a guy to consider in a year or two as the next HC. Hart needs to make sure that UT hangs on to CJW.

I think it's more like 8 or 9. If he went 8-4 or 9-3, I'd be shocked if he was fired.
I'm not saying what he needs to keep his job, I'm talking about recovering from the mess he has allowed himself to get himself in. It will take some impressive results to overcome this. 8-4 with losses to Bama, UF, and UGA, and he's probably out. 9-3 will allow him to keep his job until Bray, Hunter, and Rogers are gone.

Yes. He is already when he reels in talented players in this recruiting class.

You don't shoot the ox pulling you out of the ditch. It may not be the biggest and strongest ox, but it is the one doing the work. The bandits who put you there are long gone and dug it deep. The ox doing the pulling has a lot of yappers nipping at his heels, but he keeps on pulling.
