So if the NCAA decides this year doesn’t count towards a players eligibility why wouldn’t Cade just be able to play either way? I feel as if the ncaa would have to view these as glorified scrimmages and therefore have no control over saying a player is “ineligible”.

There's a whole long thread about this already, answering your question.

I agree I don't believe there is much NCAA can do to UT for allowing him to play in a year that pretty much is just to play football with no Championship involved, and even if they try, not sure any court would uphold it because the NCAA is a Bonfire of a mess and inconsistent in their rulings. It could actually be a Pandora's Box if NCAA tried to prove a point that would only demonstrate their inability to provide a rationale for the denial other than Georgia being a complete A$$ wipe.

Question - if the NCAA isnt technically having a championship, nor actually running football schedules... Do they really matter this year? Perhaps we could appeal to the SEC and any proposed new governance structure. I mean if you listen to the NCAA, then there is no football this year. Why then do we (or anyone else) care who they think is eligible to play this year?

They never had control over the P5/autononous 5, at least since 2015.

What you aren't getting is Cade isn't going through mainly because of uga and maybe the SEC. They have to sign off on sec transfers and have never let one through before like Cade's. There's a reason these always are denied 100% of the time and it ain't the ncaa.....

Oh, I get that quite clearly and am in agreement - but I think at least the SEC would then have to come out and own why they were favoring some over others vs the amorphous blob of the NCAA - its a smaller pond and harder to hide in.

Alright, but we would hate knowingly playing an ineligible player when this is our year!
