Can anyone in SEC stop Pearl's Vols?

The Vols beating Xavier there said a whole lot to me about this team. Looking very very good for the SEC championship banner. I still beleive Xavier is one of the top teams in the country, i.e.definite Sweet 16 squad, and this should vault the Vols into top teams to be considered as a possible final 4 contestant.

UT may lose 2-3 games in the SEC this year. They are just too strong for everyone. UF and UK are way down and the west teams are bad. Vandy is the only team that may upset UT.

UK is down, but I expect a tough close game, that has been the nature of the series.

In basketball on the college level it is very difficult to win on the road and the Vols did it against a fine team Saturday. My greatest concern in watching them is their half court defense and rebounding. Chism went hard to the glass the last 4 minutes but we need that effort up front all game and we must stop the ball out top and not let these guys drive to the basket uncontested. Otherwise, the depth and talent and Coach Pearl can take this team a long way in the conference and in the NCAA tourney. It is an exciting team to watch.

I agree with you, Fergie. Better rebounding is imperative and half court defense has to step it up a few notches.........stop the dribble penetration......plus we have to have better shot selection. Remember, we don't need to be involved in too many close games, as free throw shooting has been our Achilles heel for quite some time. Let's don't make it an issue at the end of the game, but rather have it salted away before the final 4 minutes.

The way UT is playing right now, they are unbeatable. I see UT in the final 4, with Memphis, UNC and UCLA.

unbeatable is ridiculous. I can give you about 50 reasons why we're not consistent enough to go unbeaten. #s 1-49 are halfcourt D. we are the class of the conference and should win handily, but will not do it unbeaten. if we do, the conference is even sorrier than it appears to this point.

I agree that unbeatable is a might overly optimistic, but I think it's ridiculous how you tell everyone you disagree with are ridiculous.

Well then it's fair to say your "man crush" on JP Prince is ridiculous too. There's nothing ridiculous about his post. Our half-court defense is horrible as well as our rebounding and shot selection.

Our coach will have his team ready to play when the SEC opens, but the SEC is entirely a "season unto itself". Tennessee will have very few losses, but there will be some. However the SEC is down a bit this year, except for Tennessee and Ole Miss, so it should be a fun season to watch for the Vols.

sorry for the ridiculous. how is obscenely optimistic or altogether out of touch with reality?

Memphis looked good putting away Arizona last night. The game with the Vols should be a classic!

Hopefully. I generally pray that we blow the other team out, but I doubt there is even a slim chance to smack Memphis around. I do feel like we can hang with Memphis though, so I'm pretty excited about the game.

Don't forget about OLe Miss, they're not too shabby. Need to look a game at a time, but I don't see more than 3 losses in SEC, hopefully 2.

I think that is highly unlikely. Even UF last year, which was in retrospect much better than this Vols team, couldn't pull off a 2 loss season.

For a lawyer, you can be pretty foolish.

It's not that we think UT 07-08 is better than UF 06-07, it's that the SEC was the 2nd best conference last year. This year, the 6th.

The dropoff from SEC 08 to SEC 07 is BIGGER, imo, than Florida 07 to UT 08.

The SEC was much stronger last year than this year especially the east. Vandy was a sweet 16 team, KY had Tubby, TN was a sweet 16 team, LSU underachieved and should have been better than they were with Big Baby, but still a decent team.

This year - FL is terrible, KY is worse than FL, Vandy hasn't impressed me so far even though they are undefeated. LSU lost big baby. Ole Miss has got a couple decent wins, other than that not much for the SEC to brag about. TN should have a much better record than Florida's SEC record last year.
