1. First, only the Bama 1990 game is comparable in terms of shear heartbreak, but at least Bama made a great play to win that one.

2. Eric Gordon looked exciting on kick-off returns. It's his job to lose now for a while.

3. Nick Reveiz will leave school as a Vol Legend.

4. Matt Simms is one tough cookie. He has improved every week. I've got no problem with his game.

5. Poole + Jones makes this offense about 3x better. Jones was huge on key 3rd downs this week. Wish he could have gone the last three.

6. I think giving it to Poole on 4th down was a good call. I thought they would get push and penetration, and Poole was the only guy who might slide off a tackle and get the yard. (What I didn't expect was what followed).

7. If we make it to a bowl game now, it will be an incredible testament to these kids and their coaches.

8. Our coaches cost our kids this one. They seem like they're great Sun - Fri, but they need a lot of OJT on SEC Saturdays. Lesson learned.

9. I said it earlier this week, and I'll say it again here, if we had a full squad, we are 2 - 0 in the SEC right now (FL is 1 -2) and in the hunt, in the mix for the SECE. It is all on Hambone and Kiffin.

Should have had a man counting. after all we didn't need 11 to stop a bad snap that sailed 10 yards down the field.

1. Last years Bama game is just as close to me.

2. I agree

3. One of my favorite all time Vols....not the best player, but a true Volunteer

4. Simms is tough, but not a great QB. He won't really win you games, but he won't lose them for you either.

5. Again, I agree....I think Jones is slightly more important

6. It was our best option

7. I'd be ecstatic if we made a bowl game this year

8. Our coaches have disappointed me this year to this point...they need a lot of work

9. I'd say at least 1-1, maybe 2-0.....and we'd have a shot at the east

As I said in another thread yesterday, the fact we were in position for this to happen to us gives me hope.

I keep wanting the young receivers to step up but you have to keep going to Gerald Jones with the game on the line. It was great to have him back.

Poole must have really been hurt. He was so much better vs LSU.

I agreed with everything except your backhanded slap to the coaches in #8 and then your complete contradiction in #9. These coaches are doing all they can with the limited squad (that you so kindly pointed out in #9). Give it a rest, its as good as it can be and is what it is!! Support or Don't!! GO VOLS AND CDD!!! What make you so sure a coach sent those players on the field? With so many first year players and so much chaos going on,I don't get placing all the blame on the coaches, but thats the way this fanbase rolls!!! BEAT THE DOGS!

The bonehead called was when we were 2nd and 2 on there half of the field around 5:30 minutes left to go in the game. We threw the ball and it should have been intercepted. This stop the clock obviously. However, we are in 4th down territory so we should of ran the ball on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th down. My prediction is we probably definitely get the 1st down. That runs down the clock to 2:30 minutes and puts in field goal range. Oh well, but when all the chaos begins to start and you have a young team and a new staff, anything can happen. I mean anything.

Hunter made another great catch, once the line matures and our QB gets some time in the pocket the young receivers will blow up!!

This year was shaping up to be a DL and OL nightmare a long time ago. No way we beat Florida this year.

They did have timeouts at that point, you know.

Everyone hates a coach that gets too conservative and tries to run the clock out at the end of a game, until they try and pass and it's incomplete.

Delete number 8, and change number 9 from 'Hambone' to 'Fulmer', and you have a pretty accurate post.

It was the coaches that kept UT in the game, giving us a chance to win at the end. LSU had us overmatched and were playing at home as a 16-point favorite. With our lack of depth (more about that in the next paragraph), playing a top 20 team on the road, I'm happy seeing that it took a freakish ending to have the game taken from our grasp. All it would have taken was just "one" break in the final 90 seconds to have secured a Volunteer win.

Fulmer created and left this program in shambles. Just because some Fulmerites refuse to acknowledge the obvious, doesn't change the obvious. The most glaring fact is the significant drop of talent recruited by Fulmer in his final 2 years. And now we are playing with the remnants of junior and seniors that Fulmer recruited.

And the one-year lacuna under Kiffin magnified the disaster of Fulmer's final years.

It will be a minimum of 2 years before the toxins of Fulmer and Kiffin are dissipated. Until then, support the new foundation that must be reconstructed by Dooley and staff.

I am certainly supportive of Dooley and co. I suppose if they were going to do their OJT at TN, it couldn't happen in a better year.

Jones really makes a difference in our offense when he's on the field. I saw flashes of what Poole could do last year (when he actually saw the field).

Except he didn't think. Milking the clock instead of snapping the ball with 10+ seconds on the game clock was a HUGE ERROR and affected the outcome of the game. QB position requires thinking, too.

6. I think giving it to Poole on 4th down was a good call. I thought they would get push and penetration, and Poole was the only guy who might slide off a tackle and get the yard. (What I didn't expect was what followed).

Yes, but calling timeout game LSU time to get set to stuff the run. Right before the snap what went through my mind was right here is where Steve Spurrier would cross them us with a naked bootleg with some kind of pass option as a safety valve.

8. Our coaches cost our kids this one. They seem like they're great Sun - Fri, but they need a lot of OJT on SEC Saturdays. Lesson learned.

You're right but at this level a coach should be well enough schooled and we would not see all the errors that we did.

All on them? No mention of Phil The Warden Fulmer destroying our program?

I think it is painfully apparent now that without Hambone + Kiffin, we are sitting at 2 - 0 in the SEC, on course to win the SECE. If we had a full squad, we might be 4 - 0. We definitely beat Florida on the 18th, and we definitely beat Les Miles yesterday.

It wouldn't be the greatest Vol team ever, but it might be 1985 redux at this point. Certainly, we would feel good about GA and better about USCe.

I'm just getting angry typing this. Out.

You're right. If Hamilton had gotten rid of Fulmer sooner we would've never sunk this low.

I am with you. No qualms here especially #8, particulary on defense. Good evaluation.

Please. We were extremely lucky to not be 0-4 against Spurrier's Cocks. Both wins we got were miracles resulting from botched INTs turning into TDs or missed chip shot field goals. The team Fulmer was counting on to be great failed miserably and got him fired. This year was setting up to be awful due to inadequate recruiting on the DL and OL.

Thanks to Kiffin and Hambone.
