Calm down NegaVols

its a learning moment for those kids for sure. fatigue may have been a factor but it was an equal factor for all teams. maybe our conditioning isn't as good as Kansas? either way we couldn't buy a shot in the second half after utterly dominating the first. if the team came out flat from the very beginning of the game I might give more credit to the notion of fatigue. its kind of hard to swallow that after a 20 minute halftime breather you're more fatigued than just a few minutes earlier when you totally dominated 🤷 who knows.

No one has a problem with an early season loss especially with 11 new players. The fact that the loss came 24 hours after a HUGE win combined with the way we lost, us being up by over 10 points, made it sting more. I thought this was going to be a team that could go inside and play power basketball when the shots were not falling. Hopefully that will be the case by end of season.

Blowing a 12 point lead with 15 minutes to play with an undisciplined and playground offensive scheme and mediocre defense were the concerning aspects, but glad to see the collapse in November not in March. Fatigue is a convenient excuse, but Kansas, much like Houston, have some extremely talented and versatile basketball players that can score, defend and rebound, that caused match up problems for Tennessee, which, currently isn't a top 10 team, but can improve greatly. When you are up 12, the top teams try to go up 16, then get up 20 and then put the game out of reach.

I didn't wanna do this but I'll be the voice of reason. If some of you don't realize we played the (arguably) the most physical team in college basketball yesterday, then ran out of gas today then idk what to tell you. They didn't play Houston and we did. Also, NCAA tournament is never 3 games in 3 days.. and our best players went 10-34 BECAUSE THEY WERE TIRED. It's November, it happens. Some of y'all's posts have ticked me off. We are just fine.

Agree. The Houston game eventually caught up with them. It was obvious the defense and shooting just were not there in the last 10 minutes last night. When the legs go, the shooting suffers and it showed up big time last night. And credit to Kansas. Some subs showed up big last night for them. Hit shots they normally aren’t going to make. Overall a successful trip to Vegas.

Agreed! As much as we all hate a lose, this one could go along way to maturing this team. Also, it seems to me that Coach Barnes has more pieces to work with this year. He is looking at how players work with each other on the floor. By season end, he will have the team ready to play anybody.
Welcome? 🤗

It was just a tough pill to swallow because we lost in a way that guys like Mashack and Ziegler would not have let happen. Out worked and outhearted. We just haven't seen it in a while. Part of maturing as a new team I guess.

We got outworked last year in the elite 8 in the first half by a lot so 🤷‍♂️

Kansas will be a 20+ win team again, will be in the tournament, and will be one of the things the nerds who analyze things call a "good loss" in whatever quadrant math they use. It's not like UT lost to Southeastern University of Northern Nowheresville
Houston win > Kansas loss. We are fine. Was thinking we were probably in regression-rebuild mode this year in SEC and nationally. Seems SEC may be down a notch this year and from what I’ve seen from our 3 shooting and post play, I’d say we remain in top 3 or so. In sec play. Having bigs to rebound and score on off night perimeter shooting makes a big difference

Didn’t it happen last year?

Not always. It’s basketball. Sometimes things swing wildly during a game, it even happens to top 10 teams.

Not sure who Kansas played before us, but I do know that no one beats you up like Houston does. We certainly felt it the next day. Said it before, but our kids emptied the tank vs Houston. 20 year olds or not, it's hard to duplicate an effort like that two nights in a row.... especially in a "tournament" like this one.

All in all, this tournament was very good for us and we got what we needed from it. Proud of the way our guys represented.
Who are you and what did you do with Cav?

Mashack and Zigler were right in the middle of us getting us "out worked and out hearted" in the Elite Eight game against Houston

It’s basketball, a game of momentum and swings. Just like the Houston game, being up 10 in basketball means nothing.

It is also November, team should look much better in January/February. Which is good for us because they already look like a great team.

Interesting 1st post.

It's loss, not lose btw
