Calloway ejected

And again, thank God you're not the coach. You never messed up in your life. Jesus.

Vol-player haters await the slightest chance to condemn and execute our guys for even the slightest misstep. Mentioned that on VN about 2.5 weeks ago. It never fails. You know the type, they've never made a mistake or done any wrong their entire lives, being celestially and spiritually faultless and all.

College football is all about becoming a man, making that transition into a properly-functioning member of society.

Calloway is learning what it is to be a mature adult. This is not unusual. It is expected. It is between the lines. It is okay.

We saw versions of this with Jeremy Banks, Jauan Jennings, and a host of other lads over the years and decades. Every college team in America is doing the same with their young men, too.

Those calling for Calloway to be dismissed from the team are over-reacting. Coach will do the right thing with the lad, to help him mature.

Go Vols!

Being young and full of testosterone will cause things like that to happen. We want these guys to go in there and be mean and violent and then fuss when they actually lose it for a minute. He made a mistake and I'm sure he will pay the price

This thread and some of you are just crazy . You don’t kick a kid off of his team that he’s put in the work everyday to be on just for losing his cool on one play . You run his butt off until he can’t see straight for letting someone get in his head during a blow out instead of focusing on his job . This is another reason I’m glad our coach doesn’t let us watch all of our practices , some of you would have half of our team playing for somebody else .

He threw multiple punches, and looked like a rabid dog in the process. This combined with the two recent domestic violence incidents is a very bad look. A statement needs to be made.
The domestic violence incidents don’t throw a bad light on the program due to the way they were handled IMO. Zero tolerance for such offenses. Who cares that a couple players squared off with helmets on and threw punches, plus the game wasn’t televised. Strikes me as a teaching moment and move on.

So A coach didn't do the right thing means that OUR coach shouldn't do the right thing??

I'd rather TN's coach does the right thing......

You are assuming that your opinion is the “right thing”, which is just a stupid thing to do.

Football is a violent sport. Bad move, yeah, sure it was. To turn off the all out assault, especially after being hit first, takes a lot of inner strength that comes with maturity and discipline. While I don't like it, to say he should never see the field again is over the top. Coach will take care of it. Suicides on the steps at Neyland might be a good place to start. GBO, beat Florida!

Calloway took a swing at another player.....

He needs to be done.

There's no place in the game for that......
My grandkids got in a fight worse than that over who's going to feed the coon dogs. Should I not let them come over anymore?

Not talking about on the team, but on the FIELD? We need mentally tough players and that ain’t him right now.

It appeared to me as if the Akron player punched under his face mask to the chin first. Yes 5 punches was uncalled for, but Akron played dirty all night.

/\
This.

Should Calloway have thrown multiple punches? No.

However, from where I was sitting I could see that Akron players were mouthing off and taking cheap shots all night.

The Akron player WAS wearing a full set of pads. Chances of major damage <0.

Chill and let Heupel do his job.

He's not alone. I noticed Page was pushing the envelop on several plays late in the game last night. At times, he looked ready to pop just like Calloway did.
