Coach Jumper can you explain team fouls
versus personal fouls to a novice such as
myself. Basketball 101

team foul is how many they have as a team and personal foul is how many a fouls a player has

When a foul is committed it is assigned to a player as a personal foul, that same foul is assigned as a team foul as well. After 5 total team fouls in each quarter is committed, a player will shoot free throws even if it wasn’t a shooting foul.

But, it has become painfully obvious after the bama football game that there are 2 rule books- one for everbody else, and then the UT rule book! Most painfully obvious when Hubert Owens is the referee

This says it best

Both coaches and players can get technical fouls. ... Also, if a player or coach receives two technicals during a game, they will be ejected. In college a technical foul counts as a personal foul as well, so it adds into fouling out. In the NBA a technical foul does not count as a personal foul.

It infers that the player and bench fouls ( coaches and players) are separate, so a player T-foul isn't a bench foul
