funny considering that the ps3 worked just fine before the patch. yet the xbox had problems. i think a lot of it has to do with who hosts the game. also if someone has some crap connection i've noticed it will lag with all players.

I have network problems with BO as well. I'll freeze up at least once while playing for an hour or so and I'm pretty much used to the lagging now. I'm really thinking about going back to MW2 for a little bit. I have DSL and BO is the only game I've ever had issues with online.

I have a 6 mbps package with AT&T that actually runs closer to 5 mbps. Still, a consistent 3 mbps connection should be fine for gaming. I have a buddy that has AT&T uverse that runs 12 mbps and still has problems with freezing up and lags. On the other hand, I know a guy with the cheapest dsl package that has hardly no trouble. It really seems like there is no clear cut reason for the problems.

Wrong.

I have twice that speed, and I get lag a good 15-20% of the time. Its not the connection speed or the isp, it's the treyarch servers/crappy coding. I locked up 3 or 4 times and finally gave up.

As a guy who got this at Christmas and had never played a COD game I'd say start with the combat training for at least one round to familiarize with maps. Knowing maps is critical to having any success and fun. The controls are pretty basic but getting used to combat speed (simulated in this mode) and map orientation made all the difference for this noob.

Just another reason why 360 is better.

I have always been a Sony guy because their units have always been dependable in the past. Unfortunately, I have experienced the YOLD on one ps3 and as much as black ops freezes and causes the machine to hard boot, another busted machine could be on the horizon. If that happens, I may give the 360 a try. I love the blu ray plus the ps3 is a very powerful console but it seems as though many game developers lean towards the 360 crowd.

Well, I did it. I reverted back to MW2 last night and it was refreshing to actually go the entire time without lagging or locking up. I played for a good 2 hrs straight and did not have any issues. I did come across one match where someone hacked it and we were all flying around and couldn't die...but other than that it was fun. No aimbots or any of that garbage.

only time i have problems is when i get into a party. if i'm not playin w/ any of the guys then i have no problem. sounds like the same problem that xbox had before the patch. we just have it after the patch. ultimate fail by treyarch. the worst lag is in ground war. its about unplayable

They are different... I was/am a huge Halo fan, but then I got a PS3 and bought the CODs

In Halo you are running around more and can take "hits" but on the CODs you are using strategy more and if you get hit, you go down

My PS3 did a system update last night and BOs ran fine for the 1st time ever

PS: whats up with the dogs? Those suck

Yeah actually I did miss that part but it was likely due to the fact that after I read your statement about the max speed AT&T offered, I discredited you as an unreliable poster who didn't know half of what you pretend to and stopped reading.

I'm using a 360, and I've been playing since day 1, and never experienced any major issues. I have the occasional disconnect, where it can't migrate hosts, but that's all.
