California Lunacy Thread

worthy of discussion - also worthy of discussion is whether it's cool for anti-ICE folks to dox individuals who participate in a specific action.

they are intertwined issues and the existence of a public record of who works for ICE is distinct from a specific instance of people sending out a call that person X was someone that arrested person Y and here's where person X lives and who his family members are.

it's not black and white
Doxxing isn't cool and publishing addresses and family members with intent to harass should bring some jail time.
Any LE making arrests or otherwise interacting with the public should not unnecessarily conceal their identities..

unnecessarily is the key word here - I'm not a fan of the tactic but activists aren't playing nice so the what is the boundary of "necessary"? I don't have the answer

This doesn't say what location but by the looks of it I don't think anyone will
show too much pity for those that play stupid games to win stupid prizes.

its the same issue in reverse for the protesters. Plenty of them were getting doxed, and losing jobs, just because they were present somewhere, and not engaged with illegal activity. most on this board take issue with the protestors being masked.

I don't see how you can argue a constitutional right has more restrictions than those who are supposed to be upholding that constitutional right.

In my limited time watching protest it's usually the rioters or those provoking violence that are wearing masks. Those peacefully engaging in protected rights are far less likely to be wearing masks.

Just something I've noticed. Now I'm sure what you've said is true. But getting fired from a job in a place like California for being at a protest? I find that unlikely. Now fired for being at a protest instead of at work? That is much more likely in a place like California.

it happened a bunch here in Atlanta with the anti-cop stuff a few years ago. several large employers sent out memos telling employees if they were seen at the site of a protest they would be fired.
