Cal to Arkansas

Is Nate can get Bama to final four with near zero fan interest / limited NIL, think what he can do in KY.

I don't like him, but he is a very talented young coach.

Maybe Big Blue will rehire Tubby.
Point taken.

Counterpoints:

1. I actually think Kentucky is capable of hiring better coaches than Oats (though hiring coaches seems to have gotten more difficult in recent years).

2. If it is Oats, there’s much less space between his ceiling at Kentucky and his current success at Bama, versus his current success at Bama and Bama’s potential floor if he leaves. So while I would hate seeing Kentucky have more success, it would likely be a net gain for us, from a whole conference perspective.

Getting beat by 14 in a final 4 game is like having a participation trophy for showing up, the team he had last year was better and they fell flat

I get the basic premise of what you’re saying but “young “? He’s FIFTY friggen years old for Mike’s sake 😂

Ohio State hired Jim Tressel from Div II but the guy had 2 National Titles. Kim Caldwell has a National Title at Division II level. Maybe, hiring, National Champions from lower divisions is the way to go.
Danny White did pretty well with Lance Liepold too. He was a DII NC coach.

Isn’t Nate oats like 3-4 vs Rick Barnes head to head? Why do we need to be scared again?
Nate Oats was 0 - 2 against Tennessee this year. Kentucky fans think that nobody can out spend them in a coach. They forget Arkansas has Wal-Mart money and Tyson foods. lol

This is what I don't understand about White: Southern Cal needs a coach--hires a coach away from Arkansas. Arkansas
needs a coach--tries to hire away from Mississippi and then Kansas State, ends up hiring away from Kentucky!

Tennessee women (8 national titles, still a high-profile program in a sport that this year got more notice and higher
TV ratings than ever, etc.) need a coach. Two former Vol players--neither of whom had been a major-college winner--failed to
bring the program back to national-contender status, and so most everyone agreed that, after two weak hires, White needed
to hire a proven winner at the major level. Go big, for a change--hire away a winner from another mayor. And what does White do?
He goes small, very small--and cheap: hires a coach 1 year removed from coaching a Div. II college in nowhere West Virginia. Has exactly 1 year of Div. 1 experience--and
that at a mid-major. She had a good year at the mid-major (Marshall)--but c'mon. Totally lame--and even more lame is how the AD
is trying to sell the hire. I don't think he even tried to hired a major-college coach--he was going small from the get-go. Weird, baffling,
annoying. And don't try to spit on women's basketball: It was UT's premier program for many years and generated a TON of national
publicity for the school. And since Summitt retired we've been an also-ran--thanks for a series of dumb, lazy, cheap hires.
Not sure how true it is but apparently one of the Arkansas BOT members vetoed Beard because of his incident at Texas, even though others were all-in on him. So it didn’t end up happening despite all the smoke.

Is Barnes in play for the KY job and if you say no then are you saying Barnes isn't good enough to be a head coach at KY ? Barnes flirted with UCLA why not KY.

IMO no. And he’s certainly good enough to be the coach at Kentucky, but at this point in his career I don’t see him going anywhere. I remember he said the allure of UCLA was that he was a big john wooden fan among some other things, but he turns 70 this year. Hes at a completely different place in his career. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t retire a Vol.

Hope all his players go with....payback for Kentucky women taking Va Tech's whole team.
Bama has the number 9 class currently if it ends up being Oates. What’s really shocking is Rutgers has the number 3 class for 2024. These truly are bizarre times.

Caldwell has been a winner so far in her career. Yes, she’s a gamble but so is every hire outside of maybe about 5.

Pearl was similar to Caldwell when he came here, just more time.

Yeah, this hire by DW looks weak, almost like the basketball version of Derick Dooley. I've always felt that if you don't have a top tier replacement, then why make a change
? It's not like the program was in the dumps or under investigation for some infraction--they just set high expectations that may be too hard to meet in just 3 or 4 years.
That was an epically dumb statement. Caldwells resume, with an incredible record at smaller schools, is nothing like Dooley’s, who had a losing record. I’m assuming you’re not serious as the only other option is you’re ignorant.

We've seen your wild & crazy takes in the LV forum. Don't bring that nonsense here in a normal forum. It's obvious you don't like or think DW is a good/smart AD but he's picked winners at every stop & job hiring he's had to do. Either sit back and watch or dont watch but to spit off judgement cause it's not a "big name" or "big school" hire is absolutely uninformed & ridiculous lol.. just cause you can post dumbsh!t and noone know who you are doesn't mean you should. Let the keyboard buttons rest some.
You should see what good ole turbo posts in the PF. Nothing could possibly top those posts.
