Cal opens up as a 6.5 favorite against UT

I think you are right, someone posted a thread on the cal boards about Cal opening at around the same margin and him currently having Cal at -8. I think it very odd that the posts go up on 2 boards, yet no one on either can find a source.

let's put it this way. when is the last time the vols were a 8 point underdog. I bet it hasn't happened in YEARS. It's not as though you are playing SC or something. Cal isn't exactly beloved by the betting public a la ND.

freshman all american. Decoud (safety) was a monster player for us before he got hurt, would have easily been all pac-10. Hampton (safety) is pretty good too. Really the other corner spot is the only question in the secondary.

Not to insult your DB, but making any all-freshman squad really isn't that great. Several UT players have done it, only to lose their starting spot later to an even younger guy. Honestly, I think the all-freshman teams are sort of a stupide idea.

agreed. He was a solid corner by the end of the season, certainly not spectacular. Obviously has a lot of skill though.

I'd say (totally guessing) Auburn 2004 in the SEC championship game. They drilled us in the regular season and they got better throughout the season, while UT seemed to get worse.

Man, seems like every publication that comes out is full of it, and yet you all seem to know everything. Maybe we should invite some of the authors of these various publications onto the board to make their arguments. I think they must have had a pretty good reason to so lavishly shower Cal with positive press.

You're making a total a$$ out of yourself. These same writers showered Cal with praise before the start of last season too. What did it get Cal other than the beating of a lifetime?

I thought we played them better the 2nd time. Not too long ago we were a huge dog @ UF.

We played better the second time, but I doubt anyone would expect that after we lost to Notre Dame and then barely managed to beat Vandy and UK. We were huge underdogs in that game.
