I dont know about you guys, but maybe with the exception of Florida, Cal will be the fastest team we will play. Everyone one of their skilled position players were very quick.

We are a fast team too, it just looked like we couldnt react very well at all.

It was the first game of the season against a team who would not be denied a win. Cal is good. UT will improve and will move on and hopefully learn from this experience. We still have the SEC to play for.

GO VOLS!!

Cal wanted the game more than we did plain and simple. Cal was embarrassed last year bad, so they came out ready to play and we didn't (atleast our D didn't)

You have lost your mind. Cal was fast, but if they are faster than everyone in the SEC other than Fla., then Cal is your National Champs. Cal was mad and looking for revenge and got it.

I think their offense could concieveably be the fastest we play....they will certainly have the best run/pass combo, I believe. The other running attacks may have more power, or more trickeration with UF's option, but you have to admire the way that Forsett kid ran...he was a man possessed out there. Hopefully that'll show the defense the tempo we have to play at, too.

If we only had a pass rush, things would have much different.

It's not the fault of our coaches that we have a lot of youth on defense. All we've got are 3 Seniors and a Junior on the D-line. A junior, sophomore, and senior at LB. 2 Seniors at safety. One senior and one sophomore at CB.

I also think Cal will be the fastest offense we'll play, and wouldn't be terribly surprised if they win the pac 10. I watched USC and I think Cal may be better on Offense.

CAl looked fast coming off the end on the Ainge fumble.
I never wanna see a hit like that again unless we are doing the hitting.
That looked like it hurt.

I watched Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, and Alabama, none of which other than Florida had running back and wide recievers that were as fast as Cal. You have lost YOUR mind.

I don't think their players are particularly fast. Our players are not slow. But our speed is useless. Defenders got there, didn't tackle, make a 2 yards gain become 20 yards. What can I say?

I have to agree - at skill positions, Cal was extremely fast. Put that with a well-prepared team and you see a team that would be tough to beat on any given night.

We may have sucked at times but Cal executed extremely well throughout the game.

They do have some exciting, and fast, playmakers. But the inability to tackle is very concerning. McFadden is heads above anybody that Cal had in the backfield.

Forsett looked every bit as fast as D-Mac, just without the weight and thus, the dumptrucking skills.

DeSean Jackson looks Devon Hester fast, period.

As for them not looking this fast last year, an effective D-line really DOES make all the difference. Those boys better step up big time this week, because their manhood has been called into question. They are the principal reason we lost that game.

31 points should be more than enough to secure a win against dang near anyone.

to all you who think Cal is the fastest team we'll play, I have 2 words for you:

Percy Harvin

I can't see any program with that much dysfunction in the offseason having any success. DMC will still get drafted high, but right now he is Barry Sanders and his team is the Detroit Lions.

Faster than Cal:
Florida
Georgia

They are both faster on Defense than Cal
Yeah... I think everybody is kind of assuming we're only talking about Cal's offense here. Which probably is overall faster than any in the SEC.

Florida's wide receivers are as fast as Cal's. Tebow is definitely faster than Longshore. Cal is faster at running back. It's not that big of a gap if Cal is faster at all.

Here's an idea: Let's throw the whole SEC under the bus to the Pac-10 to try and deflect from poor preparation and lack of ability to make defensive and special teams adjustments by the coaches.

Are you people insane? LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, ect all have more collective speed than Cal. As hard as it is for some people to believe we have faced faster players than Jahvid Best and D. Jackson. Trindon Holiday and Percy Harvin are both faster. If you go back and watch the game carefully you will see on numerous occassions that Tennessee had no problems getting to the ball carrier, the problem was that our players overran the play(which is sometimes a big problem for fast defenses), or couldn't tackle. If Tennessee had played more fundamentally sound they would have won.

Cal has some speed, but collectively and depth wise they are certainly not faster than the teams that I mentioned at the begining of my post.

It isn't fair to compare Trindon Holiday. Well I guess it is perfectly fair, but he is probably the fastest player in college football right now.
