Cal fans trying to "learn" how to be loud

Minimegaphones wont be much of a factor if we can string together 35 straight again. And YOU KNOW how much straight pisses them off on the west coast.

Maybe they'll get to hear the spotted owl hooting!!! If he hadn't been hit by the football...

The only way I can see their team getting fired up enough to beat us is if they find out how much meat our team has eaten getting ready for the game.

John and Jimmy have a guy named Rusty Simmons a reporter who covers Cal for the SF Chronicle and they asked him to compare the 2 atmospheres to help UT fans who may be going to understand the difference. He said "there is no comparison. Cal fans or at least the younger fans are trying to learn how to be loud and how to be intimidating like you have there in Tennessee".

:eek:lol::rofl::post-4-1090547912:

I heard they were passing out 50,000 megaphones to the student section to try to replicate the noisy atmosphere of neyland.

I believe they are just using cones, similar to the ones that our cheerleaders use, rather than actual police-megaphones (or I would at least hope that they would not drop that much money on something like that).

Strange I seem to remember a thread on here not too long ago complaining about all the old farts at tenn games who don't want to stand and make noise. Cal has the same problem. But those expecting a UCLA/rose bowl style crowd (i.e. bored with the game and not making noise) are going to be very disapointed.

Hey Droski, your man Rusty said it. Get mad at him. His words were "No comparison" and that Cal fans were "trying to learn how to be loud". :dance2:

Think you are missing the point. Even without the old farts Neyland is rocking. Just imagine if they did decide to stand up and scream.

The thought of having to "learn" how to be loud at a football game is so beyond me I can't even fathom it...

Goes to show you the difference between west coast football and southern football...

Out there, cheering for your football team is something to do when the media deems it as fashionable (no offense droski, you've definitely don't fit that mold)

In the south, football is as engrained "yes ma'am" and peach cobbler

If we didn't have all the old farts, I don't think your team would have even set foot on the field last year.

Tedford said that he had never seen or heard anything like Neyland... and that was with a bunch of old people sitting on their butts doing nothing. Imagine if they got into it. As for being bored with the game.... It will be quite boring by the time we get to 35-0 again:)

No one is afraid of Cal's stadium, and no one should be. Going to Ole Miss or Kentucky would be more intimidating as far as atmosphere.
When you've won games @ Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Florida the past few years......a stadium in California seems like going to a minor league ball park.

OK heres the difference
at the tailage for UT- you'll see beer, ribs, pulled pork, rolls and cole slaw.
at the tailgate for Cal- it's white wine, sushi, tofu, organic alfalfa sprouts and camembert.

people tailgate at cal? edit: we have a horrible lack of tailgating facilities at Cal. that's what happens when you build a stadium in a highly populated area.

and to have a doobie out here , you need to have your medical marijuana card- which you can obtain at a local MD and then go to the "Canabis clubs" on Market st in SF or Berkeley before the game.... ain't it freakin' great?? I can't wait for Saturday to get here and watch big orange kick some tofu butt!

Frankly, I'm almost surprised that Cal fields a football team and the locals haven't abolished the sport.

AH!!!! That explains the laid back, quiet CAL fans...in Neyland its "UT scores, mind-blowing sound of fans screaming, and then what appears to be the sound of thousands of Jack Daniels bottle top being twisted off"....
