Cal, Auburn, and Vols all in NIT?

The NIT is never a good place to be. It's the tournament of the losers of the ncaa. You play for nothing, get players hurt for no reason. Making the nit is a goal for this team? That's the stupidest comment I've ever heard. Thats like saying getting a participation ribbon is a goal.

I'm quite certain that TN is fighting to get into a post season tournament. That makes it a goal.

They're fighting to make the ncaa tourney. Not the nit. I promise you not one player on that team gives 2 ****s about the nit tourney. If you ask them, they'd probably all say they'd rather not play than to play in the irrelevant tourney that nobody besides you cares about.

Apparently others besides me care about it otherwise it would not be played in front of fans, be on TV, or even exist.

Obviously, we would all prefer the NCAA, but I'll watch any tournament we're in . We have a young team that needs to play for developmental purposes .

You quoted "playing for 69th" and attributed it to me. Clear now, huh?
Just wanted to show you how idiotic the playing for 69th place in the NIT is for the clueless who state that. I know you agree with me about the merits of the NIT, a tournament that Tennessee really has quite a bit of work left just to qualify for. The 68th place team according to that logic last year was 13-19 Cal Poly. :lolabove:

And that 13-19 team was actually dancing, not playing in the crap NIT.

Funny the difference a year makes in how we view the NIT.

Some of CCM's staunchest defenders (who had 2 NIT teams out of 3 seasons) now are saying the NIT is a "disappointment". Interesting.

CDT assembled a class at the last minute that, despite not winning as many games as we all would have liked, are playing with more heart and grit than I ever saw during the CCM era. Post season or no post-season, let's give the guy a chance to have a few recruiting classes under his belt before we start signing petitions.
