Yes, Auburn had a pretty good pair of running backs in 2003, Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown.

Most people, however, forget the identity of their 3rd string running back that year: Brandon Jacobs, of New York Giants fame.

That's the way I remember it also. I think we ended up on the short end of the deal.

I was there and AU got away with blatant holding on many running plays. I was really upset. One or two calls going our way and we win.

Not me. I went to both Auburn games that year and I remember thinking that was the most our defense had ever been dominated. We could simply not stop them.

That Auburn team was the national champs in my book.

In one of those games (I think it was the title game), Cadillac, though he was getting all the media attention, was overshadowed by Ronnie Brown. I remember Ronnie Brown looked like Herschel Walker running over our defense. He was nasty and I always thought he was actually the better back.

Didn't he hit Jason Allen like a Mack truckk crossing the goal line in Knoxville. That game was a miserable day. Rainy and getting physically dominated. That Auburn team was great though. How many of those guys got drafted.

Williams was a complete jacakass when they played TN. He was running his cigar smoker the entire game and was doing that cheap ass trick (which will now get you flagged thanks to Jerome Bettis) where he jumped up swinging his helmet after getting tackled without giving the defense a chance to get up. Unfortunately he backed up the smack talk. Bad night for the Vols

I remember the Auburn fiasco when Cadillac and Brown ran the ball down Chavis' throat the first two series of the game and Chavis pulled the starting LB's. Seems that I remember the T. V. announcers stating Williams orignally signed with Tennessee but couldn't get in so Tennessee sent him to JUCO. What did Tubberville do to pull him away from Fulmer to go to Auburn instead after JUCO?

I live Gadsden where he's from and His dad is a trainer at the gym a I work out at. His dad is real nice guy and will talk football with me everytime I see him. He said Fulmer pulled every trick in the book to get him here, Some of the tricks (If true) where violations, one was a major violation. But it was actually the City of Knoxville was the reason that Carnell didn't end up in orange and white. When he was here on a official visit with his family he said everything was going great but after the game when they went to leave thier vehicle got towed and then it took them a while for them to get it. He said the cop that gave them a ticket for parking in the wrong place had no idea who he was and was jerk about the situation. So him trying to leave Knoxville after a visit that went good just left a bad taste in his mouth about the way the city treated them. This is Carnells dad told me and just the visit to Auburn was smooth no hassles no issues and helped out that Auburn was instate. Sometimes your so close but yet so far away.

I'm pretty sure Jabari committed after Williams committed to Au. I remember that week well. There was always a fear that we were gonna lose out on Williams.

OMG. I got my car towed like 6 times when I was on campus. That used to piss me off immensely. Funny story though.

About the 04 SECCG:

Riggs long run wasn't called back. But we had 3 holding calls on one drive, one of which was 50+ yard pass.

The play/call that haunts me was a 3rd and long late hit call on P harlson. Down 3 point late mid/late 4th qtr. Would have got us the ball and great field position. Instead they continue there drive and got a TD to make it a 10 point game.

As far as "should" have won, i wont say that. They had the whistle no doubt, but they kept making mistakes that allowed us to stay close.

I'm very seldom wrong but I was on Auburn that year. I always said Slive fixed the BCS wher if an SEC team went undefeated and won the SECCG they would automatically play in the BCSCG. The problem was they began the season unranked and ranked low in some polls and were never able to jump the other two. Wasn't it after that season they delayed the BCS ranking till later in the season?
