I remember the Auburn fiasco when Cadillac and Brown ran the ball down Chavis' throat the first two series of the game and Chavis pulled the starting LB's. Seems that I remember the T. V. announcers stating Williams orignally signed with Tennessee but couldn't get in so Tennessee sent him to JUCO. What did Tubberville do to pull him away from Fulmer to go to Auburn instead after JUCO?

he did not sign with Tennessee nor did he commit. He was leaning to UT but when Tubby went on his home visit, he carried his entire staff with him. that turned Caddy

That was a huge loss for UT and huge gain for AU. The guy literally ran over us in the regular season and the SECCG.

This is accurate. He never went to a JUCO school.

I was thinking the Cadillac situation with us was the same as Chris Leak and the other Simms ... did none of those commit to us and decommit, or was it all just "leaning" then fell outta love?

I wanna say Cadillac was a verbal to UT up until singing day or a heavy lean. I think it was a bit of a shocker when he signed Auburn. I may have this wrong though.

I've always heard that Cedric Houston and Jabari Davis' commitments made him look elsewhere.

Wasn't that the SECCG that HOuston and Riggs both had long t.d. runs called back??
If so, then we could have beaten Auburn even when they had Brown and Williams.
The main thing I remember about that season is Kevin Burnett. After an early season loss to Auburn, Burnett said "We will meet them again in Atlanta"
He predicted that about four months in advance and was correct.

It was. We met them again and failed to stop them again. Houston and Riggs would have been role players if Williams had been on our team.

It was a long time ago but I remember leaving the dome that night feeling like we should've won.

Not me. I went to both Auburn games that year and I remember thinking that was the most our defense had ever been dominated. We could simply not stop them.

That Auburn team was the national champs in my book.

Leak never committed but Chris Simms did and then flipped

Can't blame Chavis to much for the 2004 games with Auburn that team was just nasty. Hard to believe that 2003 Auburn team lost five games with the players and payroll they had. No wonder TT almost got fired. Just think Auburn could have had Petrino what a match. Crazy how things work out sometimes.

I remember Simms going on national tv and committing to us. Then later recommitted. I was so pissed

I'll agree that it's silly that Auburn team didn't even get a chance at a NC.

It really seems like they got punished for the losses a year before. I remember hearing them talk about the losses that didn't happen that year many times on the radio and espn. Not that I care one bit about Auburn , but I could see them doing something like this to an undefeated team again if more than 2 deserve to play for the title. Hopefully they are going to fix this mess.

Guess I heard them speaking of someone else going to JUCO then somewhere else or maybe Auburn had a player that signed with UT then went to JUCO then to Auburn but I specifically remember the TV announcer commenting on Williams originally got to UT. Just think if Fulmer had gotten him (and he'd stayed healthy like he did at Auburn) how different both his and the football programs situation would be. The two things I remember most about him was he and Brown on the first two series of the game running it down Chavis' throat then Jason Allen talking trash before the championship game and Caddilac in low gear running over him for a TD!
