There's been rumors circulating that the SEC supposedly was having a vote yesterday. Mark Stoops tweeted something about. I don't know the details, hopefully someone that knows more can fill you in.Heard as I was leaving the car to walk in to the office, Tyler said something to the effect of “will Cade Mays be cleared to play by days end?” just before cutting to commercial.
Is anyone aware of something occurring today that would enable that to happen, or was that just a hook?
Word is, the SEC presidents/chancellors are voting today (they were originally rumoured to be voting yesterday) on a new rule that would allow one-time transfers between SEC schools without the player having to sit out a year.
If they vote in favor, and if they choose to apply the new rule immediately, that would clear Mays (and others) to play this season.
It all seems to have started last week with Sankey's comment along the lines of, "I don't know why SEC schools keep asking for waivers to a rule they established; they could just change the rule instead.." So...looks like several of them decided he's right, and they will. Or at least are giving it the good old college try.
In this case, it honestly seems like nobody thought of it.Why can't these major issues be settled before the season starts? Makes no sense!
Someone said Kiffin mentioned the upcoming vote, too.I saw the Stoops quote, but when the reporter asked CJP about it in his presser, he said he had not heard anything about it and didn't know what they were talking about. I haven't seen the vote reported anywhere except reporters quoting Stoops. I really hope it's real, but I'm skeptical until it happens.
The 28th has come and gone. I have not heard anything that indicates that the vote occurred yesterday. However, it is possible that they are still counting the votes and we may hear something in the next 3-4 days.Someone said Kiffin mentioned the upcoming vote, too.
Here, just found a write-up on Kiffin's comment: Lane Kiffin: SEC Voting Today on Intra-Conference Transfer Rule
So, Kentucky and Ole Miss coaches seem to be the two sources of the rumor yesterday.
A few possibilities there:The 28th has come and gone. I have not heard anything that indicates that the vote occurred yesterday. However, it is possible that they are still counting the votes and we may hear something in the next 3-4 days.
With the SEC office being in Birmingham, you may be correct that it takes 4 days to count to 14.The 28th has come and gone. I have not heard anything that indicates that the vote occurred yesterday. However, it is possible that they are still counting the votes and we may hear something in the next 3-4 days.
Case Mays, is that a new knife for sale up at the Smokey Mountain Knife Works?
