Coaches play the wrong player alot all over the country. Lewis should have started first game his freshman yr for example.

Speaking generally, across all sports, coaches makes questionable or bad personnel decisions regularly. It often happens because coaches become subjective about some players--positively or negatively. They "like" some players for qualities that aren't always related to their performance on the field, and the same for players who they are not terribly fond of. And sometimes they just get it wrong. Yes it was, and it lost games for him too. 96 Florida comes to mind. I scant remember the starting left tackle that got torched early in the game, but I remember the left tackle that replaced him - Chad Clifton. Well, 29 points later we lost the game by 6. The following year we started a running back named Mark Levine against Florida who didn't do very well. Be was replaced the FOLLOWING WEEK by none other than Jamal Lewis! PLAY THE BEST KIDS YOU HAVE NOW BUTCH!

This even goes back to Johnny. The game before we played Bama in 1989, we got lit up by a very good quarterback from Washington State. Johnny knew he had a problem, but didn't want to make a change like that the week of the Bama game 😡😡😡. The end result was a 47-31 drubbing. The 2 players? Their names were none other than Carl Pickens and J.J Mcleskey.
