Curious to hear your opinions on whether having a bye week coming up next weekend is good or bad for this team?

There is always the argument that it is good to have a bye week to heal up injured players, work on the playbook, etc. There's some validity to that argument here.

But on the other side of the coin, I'd love to take the momentum from the UGA game straight into the matchup with Alabama.

Hopefully we spend a good deal of the extra time sorting out special teams play, and continuing to develop some chemistry between JC and the WRs...

Thoughts?

Great. We have 2 weeks of positive thinking and game planning to beat Bama.

Good thing, coming off a big win they have some positives too build on. But also need time to straighten out a few things like special teams.

I think it's a good thing because not only do the coaches get two weeks to improve, but we get a chance to get healthy AND get two weeks of good press!

Great timing. We get to heal up. We have two weeks to prepare for the biggest opponent left on our schedule. Plus, we have get to have unreal positivity for the next two weeks.

Two weeks of hype building as well...think Kiffin will take any strategic jabs at Saban to ruffle some feathers? All the pressure is on Bama...

Probably good timing this year. Extra time to prepare and heal. Bama will be a tall order regardless.

This isnt good timing, this is PERFECT timing. We got back on track with a win and got to .500 and we have a top 5 team up next. Props to Crompdaddy today

Need a bye week. Get everyone healthy and plenty of time to get the game plan down. Plus, the momentum thing usually doesn't work. Most of the time you're so hyped up after a big win that you come out flat the next week (has happened a lot to teams already this year, including Auburn today). This bye week has came at the best time possible for the team.

Bye coming at a great time. Momentum didn't help following the WKU, did it?

You have a point, but I don't know that I'd say Western Kentucky is a team you build momentum against. Everything we did against them was expected. Scoring 40+ against Georgia, an SEC rival, in a huge win is another story IMO.

There is the 24 hour rule there people. This team does not need to think about the GA game after tomorrow and I dont think they will. They will be looking at Alabama! We need this time off to rest and prepare. I agree with one of the other posts, This is perfect timing. This weekend could not get any better unless ole miss beats bammer but it aint looking good lol

Great timing! Hopefully we get V. Richard, J. McNeil, & G. King back and other key guys like C. Walker healthy again. And Monte has 2 wks to prepare for Bama. And not to mention 2 weeks to work on QB/WR timing and, oh yeah, special teams. Go Vols, beat Bama!

It's great because it will let Chris Walker and Vlad get healthy and Hardesty get rid of some minor nagging issues.

We match up horribly against Bama. The time will help tremendously with:

1. Offense and Defensive schemes - we have to play perfectly and get some breaks to win.

2. Get healthy - we need lots of bodies against the size and strength of Bama.

I think the bye week is essential.
