Bye Jalen, Thank You

His problems seemed to have started with the slow trot toward the goaline at uga. I don't know what happened after that. He has seemed slow all year, maybe he was bruised and battered I don't know. He played well at times over the years but with all the treadmill hype this summer I didn't see any of that explosiveness this fall. His demeanor during the South Carolina seemed to say he had checked out. John Kelly ran hard, that's what football players do. GBO!!!!

Let's be honest... Hurd was never going to get a great position in the draft in this offense. I think he's doing it for his own welfare.

We all had higher hopes for him this season. I don't understand how he made the offense work before but couldn't this year. I mean, he should have broken the all time record by the end of the season, and not only that, but he had a string of like 8 or 9 straight 100 yard rushing games. It worked then.

But, in his defense, he was hit in the backfield a lot. So, I get it. So, I wish him well. I have no hard feelings.

One thing I noticed from week 1 was how easy he was going down. After watching the treadmill videos, I thought he would be more explosive and tougher to tackle. Yes I know our line isn't good, but it looked like he wasn't there mentally. I hate it for our team, but life goes on. Throughout this shake up, I want to see DeBord and Mahoney fired!

Thankful for Hurd's efforts.

I don't understand what happened this season, though. I've never seen a RB regress so quickly without a significant injury. He went from being our #1 back to being maybe the 4th best back on the roster in a matter of months. At times, it felt like he wasn't there. Maybe DeBord hasn't utilized him in the best ways, but he still racked up tons of yards last season in the exact same offense.

Wish him the best of luck regardless. He was a workhorse for this team for two years.

I have no problem with people saying he was used wrong and by no means am I a Butch apologist but If you play in the same system for three years and quit in the middle of the year you are soft. No if ands or buts about it. Butch if you are lying to your players pack your sh3t and leave as well. Sick of this "Me" attitude by the players and the coaches. This is the University of Tennessee not the University of Some Individuals

He hasn't left yet.

But if and when he does:

Thanks for all you given to the program, Jalen.

Best of luck to you in the future.

GO BIG ORANGE!

thank you for being a quitter. We don't want quitters. If you're not a vol then get out. He has been an infestation all year. He was playing with no heart, If he didn't want to be here he should have left at end of last year. We would have been so much better off.

Butch should have benched him several games ago for playing with no effort. We have all seen it and questioned why he was running so soft all year long.

Leave or stay I have no ill will toward Jalen, I have to be honest and admit I thought he was a bad fit for this offense from the get go. If I were a blue chip RB I would never come play here as long as we run this dumbed down version of the spread. Hurd needs to be in an I formation or single back offense where he can pound the ball. Deboard needs to go and so does the spread offense, Butch has to adapt or he will not be here much longer. I think Jalen would be an excellent TE and if he wants to try it out here they should let him but until we change offenses recruiting will suffer esp at the skilled positions. If he leaves I wish him the best and hope he excels, I do think he is smart to switch positions because he is just too tall to play RB in the NFL.

Thank you? Really? He quit on his team

Running Jalen Hurd in our current scheme is no different and just as simple as a kindergartner trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Unfortunately for Jalen and us, it appears we have kindergarten level coaching and play calling. I'd say high school, but that would be an insult to some of the high school coaches I've seen throughout the country.

I am disappointed in him for quitting, but I am angry at our coaching staff for refusing to change.

For coming to Tennessee.
Thank you for recruiting other players to come with you
Thank you for giving your all for Tennessee (until lately).
Thank you for being part of the resurgence of football at Tennessee.

I wish you the best.

Only post in this thread if you have something good or positive to say. Maybe somehow this will get to Jalen and he can see that not everyone thinks he is a quitter, coward or whatever else has been said about him.

That is all.

I hope he learns a lesson and never is able to play again.
