Yes Gaurantano is bad. He shows up for a minute, shows some talent and then sucks completely. His look on the side line was disgraceful and lacks any hope.

However, Chaney stunk in 2009, awful at Georgia, and continues awful play calls the past two years. Only reason Chaney was halfway decent was Tyler Bray could sling it, and Georgia running backs were beast. He can’t produce with average players. Boring to watch.

I think you are confusing game planning with execution. If you have a game plan that is working then all of a sudden it’s not being executed, what are you left to work with? They have to run plays even if it’s from the pee wee playbook. You can only give the players so much and the guy that snaps the ball determines that load

Chaney wasn’t even calling plays during Kiffin’s lone year. Funny you leave out his time as OC under Doofus.

Man you folks are insane

Nah Chaney's more than capable. What played would you dial up with Friend coaching your line and your head coach refusing to okay anyone but JG at qb

This wasn’t a 1.7 million per year offense today. I don’t care who was playing OL. UGA replaced 4 OL and was playing with a 5th string QB and made necessary adjustments.

Oline was terrible. How much of that you put on Friend or Chaney I have no idea. You’ve got a limited offense already in what your starter can do. I thought some of the calls were great on Chaney’s part. As the offensive line got dominated more and JG started to make more mistakes we were really limited in what we could run. I would give a lot of credit to Georgia’s defense.

Chaney got Kyle Orton and Nate Peterman into the NFL. He got a really solid season out of Jon Crompton. If you think this game is on him and. Not our HC that is apparently married to JG and continues to employ Will Friend then I can't explain it to you.

I no longer care about what the college football "experts" think about a coach. They rave about Chaney. Chaney has been at Tennessee twice. I was not impressed. He was at Georgia. What did he win? He has had immense talent at his disposal and doesn't have much to show for it. I will freely admit, I am not a great football mind. I have, however, watched a ton of football in my time and I like to think I have gained some perspective. What I watched today was a team without an identity and lacking in discipline. I had high hopes for this coaching staff but I have to admit it has started to fade. As always, GBO.

Weird. Crompton has given complete credit to Kiffin over the years and LKs QB track record since then has been a lot better than Chaneys. Why don’t you try explaining that to me?

Idk how much you put into this but Pruitt said Chaney would have full control of the offense. I would guess that means naming the starter as well but idk. Chaney absolutely has extensive experience coaching the Oline. I honestly think we’re better there but this game certainly didn’t reflect that. Georgia’s defensive front is just really good.

Sure he's terrible. Ask Drew Brees, Kyle Orton, Nate Peterman, Jake Fromm, Brandon Allen and Tyler Bray why they think they're in the NFL. Ok, you can have Crompton. He did get to the CFL for a bit.

Again Chaney got Peterman to the NFL. Georgia wanted and tried to keep him, Tennessee got him. He’s thought of as one of the better OC’s in the conference.

You just disproved your entire argument with this comment.
A Georgia 247 guy who has followed them since the 90s said this is the best defense they've ever had.
Yet Chaney is supposed to go beat them with average players?
Please tell me how many SEC caliber OCs are 100% amazing all the time play callers. Who are we going to get?

Chaneys forgotten more about offensive football than I’ll ever know and I’ve considered him one of the best OC’s we’ve had in the last decade or so.
However, today wasn’t his best called game imo.

Joe Osovet-sits in the box with Chaney and from all accounts an offensive guru with high scoring teams wherever he has coached. I’m curious what his specific role during game day is and his relationship with Chaney is? Is Chaney a guy who solicits advice from others or is he a control freak micromanaging everything? I certainly would like to see Osovet getting more playcalling responsibilities to see what he can do.

44 wins and 13 losses.

I believe I'd take that record.
