By the Numbers Dobbs can be a legend

Remember how mediocre Worley was and VN grieved on the fact that Dooley made the mistake of burning his redshirt. Those same remarks are going to surface this season concerning Dobbs.

He will be a legend only by our QB standards. I hate to say it but the numbers don't lie. Look at that career TD list. After Bray at 69 it drops all the way down below 40 and even if Dobbs has a great year he would barely reach 50. So, not counting Dobbs, we've actually only had 4 or 5 great passers at the QB position. It says a lot when he's essentially going to have 2.5 years of playing time and is going to be considered probably the 4th best QB in our history. If he has a completely magical season that ends in Tampa then he could be considered the 3rd maybe 2nd best. I don't want to come across as dogging Dobbs because I love Dobbs and said he should've been starting from day 1 so he could develop by seeing game action but that's another subject. In the end it's more of an indictment on our history at the QB position. If someone were to start 3 straight years it wouldn't be hard for them to be in the top 2 or 3 in our history. I guess that's the point I'm trying to make.

I only defend Dobbs from what I feel is unfair criticism.

I don't make threads just blindly praising him.

So, you defend Dobbs against what you call "unfair criticism" and yet turn around and bash every other aspect of the team as it being "their fault" when something goes wrong.

Very objective of you.

Worley was a highly touted recruit too. Gatorade player of the year. But never got it together

I get what you're saying, but only a few qbs get to start for three years in college. Most good ones start as sophomores and go pro after their Jr. Year. Just a reality for college qbs.

Do what?? Lol. That's ALL you do.

Well in his defense, he does consider unfair criticism anything other than "Dobbs is the most perfect QB ever".

I've had my go arounds with D4H and I love Dobbs.
But it's that little gray area where I admit he still needs to work on something that I basically commit blasphemy.
Well at least in the eyes of..

What if he had another year?

All collegiate players eventually run out of eligibility. Josh has played a lot of football at Tennessee already....he's played in 24 of a possible 38 games in 3 years, has started in 22 of them. If he stays healthy this year he'll have made 35 or 36 starts here which will surely rank among the most ever for a Tennessee QB.
