Billy Donovan isn't the only college coach who had a difficult decision to make whether to go to the NBA. Coastal Carolina's Buzz Peterson is also deciding whether to go to the league -- in a position with the Charlotte Bobcats.
The move would reunite Peterson with his long-time friend and part-owner of the Bobcats - - Michael Jordan.
"There's nothing official right now," said Peterson, who roomed with Jordan at North Carolina. "Michael and I have been talking about it for some time and it's gotten more serious in the last couple of weeks."
Peterson, who is expected to make a decision sometime this week, told FOXSports.com he is uncertain in what capacity he'd come aboard -- as a scout, assistant coach or in the front office.
"It's not concrete yet," Peterson said.
Jordan recently brought on Rod Higgins as the Bobcats general manager and he hired Sam Vincent -- who played with Jordan in Chicago -- as the head coach.
Peterson just finished his second season at Coastal Carolina after spending four years at Tennessee. He also spent one season at Tulsa and four at Appalachian State. His career mark in 11 seasons is 201-134.
"I've coached 20 years in college and all of the sudden, I may have a chance to do something different," Peterson said. "I've just got to weigh things out. Moving my family again is not the easiest thing in the world to do, but when it's a good friend like Michael, you've got to listen."
"I've always been intrigued and had an interest in the NBA," he added.
Peterson also said that Coastal Carolina, which finished 15-15 last season, should be better with the addition of a trio of freshman frontcourt players and all-league guard Jack Leasure back in fold.
"I'm excited about next year," Peterson said. "That's what makes this such a difficult decision."
