Buzz Growing on Jonathan Crompton

The physical tools JC posses are attractive to a lot of teams. He is a project. But with a solid upside (potentially). 3 years in the same system, which he has never got in college and I think you get a solid, functional QB who will not do the things to get you beat.

hell be good till he throws his first interception, then its all down hill from there. But i really do want the best for him and hope he does well wherever he goes GBO

Just don't see him being able to handle multiple reads.

I'm not saying he'll be in a system for 3 years and be making complicated pre/post-snap reads... but most teams will give him the benefit of the doubt in regards to the sheer number of systems he's had to absorb, forget and then re-learn an entirely different system every year.

Wasn't he making adjustments to the play towards the end of the year?

Yes he was.

The coaches were very complimentary with his ability to understand those different systems. Called his notebooks and understanding of those systems remarkable. I saw a video clip about it last year some
time. The on the field execution is what needs work and experience in a given system.

I think he'll do fantastically if he goes to a stable team with a good running game and OL (though usually those 3 go hand-in-hand).

Honestly, he could do well at the Titans if they're not completely sold on Vince Young.

He would be a good project for the Titans if he was available in the 6th round. I'm not sure Kerry is coming back so VY is starting and Chris Simms is the backup. It sounds like he may be off the board before they would consider drafting him though.

I agree with this, had this discussion with a friend yesterday.

last summer when Lane Kiffin said he'll get Crompton drafted I laughed at him. but it looks like he knew what he was talking about.

Kiffin is an @$$, but he knows football... especially the passing game. He sniffed out Bray before the professional scouts even knew about him.

its just stunning that he may get drafted higher than Erik Ainge did...

He's better than what Ainge and Clausen were at this point in his career. Not knocking those guys but it just goes to show how much the "Skoal Patrol" weren't cultivators/developers of talent.

I'm with some of you on this. I would have laughed out loud had I been told a year ago that JC was draft material, but the pro elite realize all the coaches and different schemes he had to go through on the hill. Put him in one environment and leave him there with professional mentality coaches doing one on one tutoring and I think JC can absorb enough to be a great backup somewhere and hopefully in time (who knows) a credible starter. All the best Jonathon..........Commish

Im not a Crompton fan...AT ALL...with that being said it would be nice to see him get drafted...though I doubt he will ever be more than a number 2 QB...I wish him the best of luck

I thought this read "fuzz growing on Jonathan Crompton"

But anyway, good luck to him, I honestly think he's a reach anything earlier than 5th Round or so.

On what could you possibly base the first sentence of your post?

Look at the Lions draft picks.

There are always going to be stupid teams out there.

Any Vol fan with a brain knows that Ainge is better than Crompton.

So you "really do want the best for him and hope he does well", as long as he goes somewhere where he never throws an interception, right??? Jeez!
