Buying out of the Oklahoma game

Should TN buyout of the OU game?

Why play a game you know you cannot win if you are realistic, and hurt recruiting. We are still two recruiting classes out before we can be on the big stage.

Being realistic we played about 4-5 games that we did not have a chance to win this year and we have a top 5 recruiting class. Go figure.

No buyout, let the chips fall where they may.

After watching them take Bama to the woodshed in the Sugar Bowl, I'm not liking UT's chances at all next year, but of course we get them again in 2015, which I feel regardless of how good they are at that point, by 2015 UT will have a much better chance.

Guaranteed loss. Those who want the game played should be prohibited from using tough scheduling as an excuse if we aren't bowling next season.

So you are saying it's 100 percent certain that we lose. Did somebody recently judy chop you? You do realize that it's a game, correct? That anything can happen, even the improbable? Even things like, oh let's say one team kicking a last second field goal to secure their victory, but all of a sudden a blocked kick returned for a touchdown turns one team into a NC contender and turns the other NC contender into an afterthought. You know, crazy **** like that. You still stuck on 100% surefire loss?

After reading Bob Stoops remarks about the SEC, i want us to stomp the life out of OU. If I was CBJ, I would make it an absolute priority to beat them like a drum! I do realize I see everything thru my orange glasses. Nevertheless, GBO!!!

No!

We ain't scared. I don't back down from a fight because I'm scared I might get whipped.

One thing about this past season, ever team we played knew they had been in a game. They may have whipped us but I can assure you they were happy to see us leave. They didn't want no more

Uh, beating Vandy, at home, was a priority since it meant going to a bowl game...and that didn't turn out too well.

I don't see how going to Norman will be easier than facing Vandy in Neyland.

With that said, there is no way UT should buy out of this game. A lot of people on here make fun of Vandy buying out of OSU and N'western but are in favor of buying out of the OU game? They're probably the same people that point out that UT is a top 10 all-time program.

Top 10 all-time programs don't buy out of games!

Will getting shellacked help in recruiting?

I agree 100%!! What are guys that we are TRYING to recruit going to think WHEN WE GET BEAT BY AGAIN BY 30 POINTS ON NATIONAL TV?? It's a lose lose situation. We get humiliated on tv, lose major recruits and are set back another 4 to 5 years. The attitude of "We are Tennessee.. we won't back down...we from the mighty SEC so we have to play the best" is why we're at the bottom of the conference. We've had 4 straight losing seasons!! :salute:

I wouldn't want to buy out a game against the Denver Broncos, much less Oklahoma. Beat the best to be the best. Anyone who voted "Buyout" is a sissy. When did the Tennessee Football motto become "Scared" ?

I agree that we should not use a tough schedule as an excuse. But if we are going to fear an SEC and good OOC schedule then we are in the wrong league. When you look at the resources at UT I can see no pride in beating another OVC or Sun Belt Conference team. If you can not win with the resources and tradition we have at UT then we need to look at who is running the programs.

The recruits know what this program is and what it has recently endured. They have seen the facilities and the system support that is evident here. If we have the right people in charge we will be competitive at OU and in the SEC. If we do not have the right people in charge then we do not need to just buy out OU, but we need see if we can get that application completed to the Sun Belt or OVC and look forward to playing in those 30,000 seat venues.

UT should buy the OU game out. Due to it might cost UT a bowl game. Kind of like the Oregon did this year.
They badly need to go 4-0 in the non conference to help their bowl chances

Postpone it. We are rebuilding and we need to schedule like a team that is rebuilding.

The downside to this game is much greater than the upside, at this point in our rebuild.

What exactly is the downside? That a underdog loses to a nationally ranked team on the road.

Wow how devastating that would be!!

For those thinking we should buy out or postpone because we are rebuilding, we've been rebuilding for 5 years now. We're not sure how long this process will take. So, so you buy out the tough schedules for the next ten years or what?

No. After hearing Stoops on Cowherd, hope Butch takes team 118 into Norman and beats them!
