If Holtmann can change up defenses. Find us some shooters. Racist or not. Some slow white guys 6'10 to 7'0. They are all over the sweet 16 right now. I'm tired of athletic guys who can't hit the side of a barn. We need guys with basketball IQ's.

Thank you for the insightful analysis.

The way I look at Holtmann. He has a successful system to win games. He is known as a great recruiter and very hard worker. He has already rebuilt one program Gardner Webb which was a total disaster when he go there. I think he could be successful at Tennessee kind of like Donavon came from no where and turned Florida into a winner. I hope we hire the guy he seems to be the right fit in personality and energy.

SIAP: Reported situation unfolding with Butler coach is sad, painful - News-Sentinel.com (The News-Sentinel cited here is the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel, which is confusing to us old farts. :))

If the threat of losing Holtmann to Tennessee wasn't enough to make me toss and turn, reading at 3:10 a.m. that Holtmann had not only already been offered the Tennessee position, but was now being courted by Texas, made falling asleep a futile act entirely...

Holtmann stands for all of the right things when it comes to coaching. He cares about his players in all aspects of their lives, he serves as a great role model and on the court, his teams were awesome to behold in their execution and discipline...

Office gossip from a Bama fan (an unusual example of a well-educated, sensible, and gentleman-like Bama fan) said that Bama had been after the Wichita State coach for several months, and then Texas had started muscling in. If Marshall told Texas that he's not interested, maybe they're now looking at Holtmann. Take that for what it's worth, which is zero.

btw, Holtmann took over the Butler program this past fall when the head coach did a mysterious fade.

Ouch...

"It's one thing to see Brad Stevens leave for the Boston Celtics or even Holtmann for Texas; those are acceptable from a public relations standpoint. But to lose Holtmann to a mid-level and unstable SEC program is a dose of humility that will be a challenge to swallow for Bulldog fans."

Ouch, indeed.

The problem with Martin wasn't that his style of play made the Sweet 16. The problem was that lack of enthusiasm for most of the year ALMOST caused us to miss the entire tournament. With the talent on that team, the Sweet 16 should have been the least it could do.
