Butch's next job.....

Quit bashing Coach Butch Jones and underestimating him. Butch will take his time - maybe even sit out a year - but he will be back. There will b e a school looking for a program builder with superior PR skills, needing to structure a strong recruiting base, and a high quality person thrilled to have Butch. It could be Cincinnati, Kansas State, Iowa, Oregon State, UNLV, Tulane, Southern Miss, Maryland - it may surprise many of the chronic Negas where this man ends up. I wish Butch, his family and his hard working staff all the best.

Yeah Fulmer could have gotten work if he really wanted it... but it would have been at a lesser tier school. He most likely didn't want to fool with that. Also, I truly believe his blood did flow orange as well.

Butch Jones is much the same way. I think if he goes somewhere with a decent recruiting bed, he will still be able to pull out 6-8 wins a year. They will be sloppy and ugly many times, but he will still take a team to a bowl every year. As long as he doesn't have delusional aspirations of coaching at an elite school, he will be totally fine and enjoy a long and happily secure tenure somewhere small.

Got to be new/used car sales. Not sure how successful he would be. Most car buyers are more intelligent than our previous AD and present board.

If Fulmer couldn’t get a job after UT, then no way should Butch get another HC job

Butch will be willing to take a far lesser job than Fulmer ever would.

This is a fairly relevant topic as the better the job he lands (paywise) the less we pay him in buyout. I truly hope someone offers Butch 2mil a year!

Fulmer could have gotten a job but he self destructed. Rumor has it that in his Kansas interview, he bragged about his past accomplishment and not what he would do at Kansas. If I remember correctly, there were jobs that he was not interested in. So, had he interviewed for those job's, he could have gotten one.
Of course, I understand that one needs to sell themselves in a job interview.

Unlikely he gets a power 5 job unless it's at somewhere like Maryland (if DJ leaves) or Kansas.

He may end up in a player-relations job in the NFL

-or-

A mid-major coach in some no where location. He'll do well there b/c he will recruit and "out-talent" the opposition in most situations despite his coaching limitations. His staff will be made up on has-beens or damaged-goods types looking for a 2nd (3rd, 4th, 9th, chance).

Kansas is in his wheelhouse. He'll build them to 8 wins and get a lifetime contract. Good luck to him.

I think he will end up on an NFL staff somewhere. I think that was his goal all along.

EXTREMELY unlikely he would do that well at KU. Even a great recruiter will struggle to bring in talent... and he isn't the guy who overachieves his talent.
