Uh oh. If he only moves this class up to 5th, a lot of negas will say, 'see, he is a liar. He said 3rd ranked class'. Just like they gave him hell for saying that some people predicted 8 to 9 losses. Even though that was a fact. Because I looked it up and there was a site that had us with 3 wins this year. I posted several of the sites and their predictions in a earlier thread. Don't feel like finding all of em again for that cult of fans.
He is a master of coach speak. There's no denying it. Sometimes I think he sounds like an infomercial for Tennessee. And that's not a bad thing. He's always selling.
I am probably looking through my orange tinted specs but does anyone notice how butch seems to revel in a win compared to other coaches? Urban, Saban, Richt, etc will smile and give pats on the balls and hugs. Butch seems to dance/hop and really get into it. If I were a recruit on the fence, I would definitely notice that.

Do you have that exact quote handy? Because I don't recall him qualifying that statement. I believe he said "the experts" as if it were many, most, or all. That particular statement was hyperbole bordering on pure BS.
Truthfully, he only needs two "experts" (analysts, journalists, etc) in order to make that statement. In fact, he would seek out negative press in order to motivate his staff and players.
No. It would be "some experts" or just "experts"... not "the experts". Unless of course he's saying that only the rare opinions that UT would lose 8 or 9 games were the only valid ones.
Most national predictions were 5-7 wins. Even that was biased by the low expectations set by the performance of UT over the past 6 years.
This was a 6-8 win team against this schedule.

No. One expert= expert. 2 or more = expertS. No need to over think it.
Throughout our disagreements, I've admired your proclivity to contrive your own trivial issues to whine about...disappointing to see you piggybacking.
NO. One expert DOES NOT equal "the experts". Nor does two.
You may be able to find the exact quote and prove me wrong but I am 99% sure he said "the experts"... not "expert" or "experts".
It was obviously extreme hyperbole... but you are wrong about the meaning of the statement when taken literally. Saying "the" experts literally means ALL of them.
