At least he waited until after the season was over and spared us images like this...

For as much of an embarrassment as Dooley was to the entire state of Tennessee you've got to love those pants.

I was wondering what happened since Butch mentioned Butcher a few weeks ago talking about the DTs that would need to play. Butcher looked great in his first O&W game, but I think he has been injured since then. I hope this 3rd surgery gets him back to 100%. Need him next year in the depth especially if Tuttle isn't back.

Thank god I was spared from watching most of the Dooley years (lots of backcountry work during football season). For the longest time I thought the pictures of Dooley with a stool, crutches, and wheelchair were photoshopped (I was unware of his injury even a year after the fact, lol)...then I saw the one where Saban is patting Dooley on the shoulder, consoling him after the loss like a father figure would do. Too real.

Lowest point in UT history right there folks.... ^^^

Dooley may as well be on his knees. Hell he even makes Saban look of normal height...

Butch was on pace to go undefeated until he took a arrow to the knee.

Think anyone would notice if we hired a bionics engineer as our next S&C coach?

Shy Tuttle plows over triple team to sack QB...nananananana! (any $6 million dollar man fans out there?)

We can make him run faster, jump higher, we have the technology!

What? Guys been injured since 1st of season. Took them this long to figure this out?
Exactly what I was thinking, this youngster should have already been recovering by now, possibly rehabbing. It's a head scratcher to me.

Surgery is always the last option. If there is a chance rehab will fix it then you do that first.

Agree. Recruit at a high level and the backups won't be walk-ons and projects

This is one of the top ten most ignorant posts I have ever seen on VN, and THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING!

Newsflash Einstein...we HAVE recruited well under Butch. And nowhere moreso than at DT. But when 5 or 6 guys are either injured or dismissed, you literally get into the 4th string guys.

See this is how it works (this is a thing called "MATH"). There are two starting DTs. So first string is two, second string is two, third string is two, and so forth.

So you need six guys for the first 3 strings (2+2+2=6...google "math" and you might be able to find this actual equation).

So if we have a combination of 5 dismissals and injuries, then we must be playing at least one fourth string guy.

Here is some more math. Each university has 22 starting positions (24 if you count two kickers, but we will go with 22). So if you wanted four strings at every position, you would need 88 guys (22 x 4...again, google "math" and you will see this).

So, very literally, if five of the top six are out, then you are almost guaranteed to have a walk or converted DE playing NO MATTER HOW WELL YOU RECRUIT!

Wow. Hope this helps. :hi:

:eek:lol:

Unreal. DL is already decimated for next year. No depth at all at DT...

It will get worse after the opening game. Look for the Vols to lose at least two DL for an extended period of time after fending off the cut blocking Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
