Butch wrecked this place

So, let me get this straight. Just to play devil's advocate.

You don't want Schiano. But, you want Miles who was fired, Kiffin who was fired, and Sumlin who was fired.

Do I have that right?

All 3, even though fired, are much better coaches than Butch Jones. Ultimately, that is why we fired him...to get a better coach...

How about you name what on earth Tennessee fans have had to be happy about in the last 10 years.

This has nothing to do with my point. How many times can I say the cause of our discontent does not matter? The results of our discontent are what matter. Our discontent brought us Kiffin, Dooley, Butch, Currie, Schiano...

Has a school ever had to hire a head football coach AND athletics director at the same time?? That might be where we’re heading.

I’d say those are the results of a incompetent administration. This road was paved by Mike Hamilton and the Haslam’s in the handling of Fulmer’s replacement. Fans are what they are. Seems to me you are trying to place the cart before the horse.

I think my position is fairly reasonable. I'm trying to blame everybody for their part. You guys are trying to act like we aren't part of the reason this program is toxic. We all share blame. Coaches, players, fans, and admin.

Dude, we went 4-8 this year and didn’t have a game with under 95,000 in attendance. The fans are definitely NOT the problem...

Hell, we’re about the ONLY good thing this program actually has anymore.

The Freakin' Haslams are the ones who have destroyed this place!!! They have turned us into the Freakin' Tennessee Browns !!! :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

We need to eradicate the Haslems from our university. We need to organize a boycott of everything associated with the Haslems, until they butt out of trying to run the university!!! :realmad:

I don't think "Butch wrecked this place", but I DO know he is laughing ALL the way to the Bank at the Vol Nation,...Probably on the beach somewhere today....smiling like he hasn't smiled in a LONG time.

In the midst of all this confusion and embarrassment during the last week, I have to ask something I have long wondered about. WHO is responsible for putting these inept people in our administration and coaching over the last 10 years or so! For such an awesome university, we have bungled the hiring of many important positions so that we now look as pathetic as any university in the country. It wasn't the FANS, although I wish some of our fans would show more CLASS in some of the comments made on social media. If we ever had any thought of Gruden coming here, we should have kept quiet about it so as not to look like total idiots in the end. We beat that to death and there was probably NEVER a chance it would happen. I hope Coach Fulmer can bring some stability and common sense to our athletic program as we search for a new coach. I hope NO boosters will interfere to complicate the process. We have made a mess of the AD's we have hired and coaches so understandably fans are frustrated, but, we must act with some class if we are to reflect well on our university and help restore respect within the country. Not that other universities have not had their problems and been crucified in the media, but, it hurts when it is us. Hopefully, we are on the path to bring respect back to the University of Tennessee...it will take ALL of us and we need to start TODAY!

Agreed totally. Dont stoop to the level of rival fans or Herbstreit. Have some pride in your university and all its accomplished. I truly believe there is not another person in Murica that has better intentions than ADPF does for our program. I am willing to give him a chance to pull us out of the fire. He’s done it before.

We are in some uncharted territory here. While I like Fulmer and respect him highly, he is an inexperienced athletic director. Its a very demanding position at a huge power 5 school. I think, or hope all Vol fans want Fulmer to be very successful. But there are serious qusstions and concerns around Fulmer.

Can he handle the rigors of the job? We dont know. Currie couldnt and he has been an AD for awhile.

How does Haslam figure in now? This is the biggest question. While I have seen some say Fulmer is not a Haslam puppet, we all know he still wield an enormous amount of power. So could Haslam flex his muscle and continue his cancerous ways? That's certainly a possibility. And honestly, more likely than not.

Why did Fulmer reportedly sign off on Doeren? If those reports were true, then that is a serious red flag. There is NO reason someone like Dave Doeren should be considered for Tennessee. I am not saying Fulmer did sign off on him. But he could have. And if he did, then we could be in for a rough coaching search. Fulmer cannot seriously consider a guy like Steele as head coach either. Thats just career suicide.

So there are serious questions regarding Fulmer as the new AD. I am happy he is here. Hopefully he does the right thing and makes the right hire.
