I saw them ask him about Tabor and other players commenting to the media. Butch says (I'm paraphrasing) that the best player shouldn't need extra motivation for big games. To me, there's too much history to let this go. Coach's answer seems to dismiss the fact that our Vols haven't look very motivated thus far in 3 games and really could use the attention surrounding this game as an opportunity to turn up the intensity.
So is Jones missing the point here? Do you guys think Butch is just feeding us Coach speak and that the players actually ARE using this behind closed doors? What do you guys think?
good points. don't disagree with any of it.Since you asked--
1. I think the premise of your post is absurd--you seem to think that there's a possibility that "WE, the FANS get it and Jones doesn't" That--my friend, is ABSURD!
2. I think CBJ is ALWAYS feeding the media coachspeak because he is WISE! The Media are always trying to take ANY coach's words and twist them to play an angle in order to sell copy, or clicks on a website, or get twitter followers.
3. I think we ALL are frustrated and hugely disappointed with our VOLS and coaches because we have looked extremely mediocre on the field in our first 3 games.
MANY bought hook, line, and sinker, into the HYPE and were pounding their chest on this board and proud to crow loudly as "HYPE-MASTERS" of how the 2016 VOLS are the biggest, baddest, BEASTS in da SEC...and would march easily into Atlanta like Sherman.
Now, those same folks are screaming loudest about how stupid CBJ, DeBord, Shoop, et. al.... are.
And now--we all scared about the possibility of losing to Fla, again!!!
4. CBJ KNOWS--that as much as a loss to Fla would be a huge setback....it wouldn't DESTROY our SEC East championship aspirations.
I personally think that WE MUST WIN this game...for a number of reasons that mainly impact RECRUITING and the public IMAGE of our program.
And now, MORE PRESSURE is on our team because we actually have NO EXCUSE for losing since Del Rio is out!!!!
WE MUST WIN this game.....that's what I think. And I don't care what is said publicly by any coach or player on the staff.
And I think they know it, too!
GO VOLS!
If y'all think Jones acts like this on the locker room you're crazy or just unaware of what goes on behind the locker room doors. He's a pretty intense guy.
Can we hire Spurrier as our spokesperson? One thing about Spurrier, win or lose, he's not afraid to lay it out there. He's an azz but he definitely got under lots of opposing coaches skin. I'm sure Fulmer hasn't forgotten.

i think getting lost in all the "butch is this, butch isn't that", is that he just needs to win this game.
when you lose to rivals as regularly as we have, nothing the coach says or does is perceived as "working".
Saban is as a big a butt hole as there is, but they win, so what he does, how acts works, even if it's criticized publically. the basic sentiment is "he can do that because it works".
Butch on the other hand doesn't have that credit built up. it's as simple as that.
