Butch was this close to owning Knoxville! And then he lost us all.

No way he isn't worshipped forever if he wins that game. He would be beloved just like Pearl. Then he caves in. He coached a great game too. Except a couple of spots.

I don't feel Butch lost this game. I know that the cool thing at the moment is to blame this on Butch, but this is on the players. That 63 yard TD that Florida took the lead on was on the players. There were 3 players around the ball. All 3 could have made a play and all 3 took bad angles and bad tackles on the player. Sorry, but the players lost this game.

He's made lots of mistakes with the conservative thing. But I think one possession sums up who he is as an individual. Second to last possession, one first down wins the game. I told my friend we'd go run, run, qb drawl (honest truth). That's exactly what we did. A pass on third and short to pick up 6 yards is a high percentage play. And qb draw with a loaded box is a low percentage play. But there's a chance for an int if you throw. I've just never see a coach so afraid to take a chance.
We were all disappointed when he was hired. We all felt like who the hell is hart and why is this his decision to make to begin with. But it is what it is. Now Butch is a lame duck coach.
All he had to do is have a little courage and the world was his. Let him be a lesson to everyone

What's crazy, UT plays unpredictable and dominates but goes back to being conservative and gets dominated.

Agree 100%. I said the same thing. If you coach against Butch, you simply assume he will make the safe play every time, and you'll be right 80% of the time, which puts you at a huge advantage.

Turns if he beats ARKY & UGA at home? [ I sadly think that will not happen but if?]

We will lose both of those. Arky is starting to wake up and Georgia is a great team and their QB is playing solid right now.

No, he only coached great in a couple spots. Those 4th down plays were the most exciting/best plays we'll get all year. I wanted to throw something when it was 3rd and Goal at the 10, really needing to go up by Two Touchdowns and we RAN THE BALL UP THE MIDDLE. Yes, Hurd scored, but what an AWFUL play call.

The pain of these 2 games remains but if he beats these 2, things are on the road to mending.

And I think we can win both. Not saying we will, but we can absolutely beat these 2 teams.

The bigger question is if Butch goes 8-4, regardless of mix of who we beat or lost to, is that going to help mend things? I think so.

We would have to game manage better. Our team is talented enough to win both but will we accept penalties when called. Be able to stop 4th down plays by sending some pressure? He can get me back if he beats UGA but I'm not counting on it.

On our last possession, before Florida scored to win, who was the one that called the same plays they had been stopping all game? Who was the one who decided to kick a PAT instead of go for two? Who is the one who doesn't have the killer instinct? Who decided to start Jumper over Kirkland jr? Anyone who watched the game can see Jumper isn't cut-out to play MLB in the SEC. He was run right by on Florida's first TD.

We have two defensive coaches who got fired by another SEC team, surprising no one at all their position groups keep getting burned. He hired an OC who hadn't coached in years, and when he did coach no one was particularly impressed with him. CBJ can say DeBord had all kinds of interest in other jobs. But after his press conference, were he lied to us about his "chart", I doubt DeBord had any interest. Butch threw his old pal a bone and hired him.

He can't coach

Him backpedaling into wins only makes it worse in the end

Decisions that seem to be not in the interest of winning football made this happen more than the losses.

Agreed, he ran the ball to the middle of the field. They were getting in position for a field goal.

Considering the coaches have no faith in Dobbs' passing ability, the run was an ok call. If he had thrown an INT, then everyone would be upset that he didn't run and either score or take the 3 points. It is obvious the coaching staff knows that Dobbs is ineffective as a passer. Of course, defensive coordinators in the SEC know that too.

I'm not saying that I'm a fan of the Debord hire, as a matter of fact I never liked it. But I bet most Vol fans were happy when we ran nearly 8 minutes off the clock on our final TD drive. I am sure most were thinking that we ran things exactly as we needed to at the time.

And yes we have 2 D coaches that were fired from SEC schools, but that doesnt change the fact that they had 3 players around the ball on a 4th and 14 play and not 1 of those players made a play on the ball, # 13 had an easy tackle at the very least , but chose to watch the play develop instead. I'm sorry, but at some point the players need to make a big play late in games as well.

He's very predictable. The plays work because he has Hurd and Dobbs who are unstoppable. Most of the good plays were because of Dobbs making something out of a bs play. We only had the lead because of him going for it with an unpredictable play. Besides that we would have only scored 2 td's and the game would have been lost anyway.

I took my daughter to see USCjr play because she is enrolled there
(please forgive me). While watching the game, my daughter said you realize your money goes to USCjr but my heart belongs to UT:). We were talking about how embarrassing it would be USCjr to loose and talking about how great it was going to be when THE VOLS beat the Gators. In the fourth quarter of the nightmare all I heard from my 18 year old was why did they do that? I would like the coaching staff to explain why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell, idc anymore whether Dobbs throws an Interception or not. At this point, and this is sad any one should ever feel this way, but I just want to THROW the damn ball and see that there is an actual attempt to try and get the passing game going. Just throw it, not another damn screen, not a 2 yard dump off pass, throw the ball 10+ yards up the field because more times than not we will see what happened when Dobbs threw a bullet to Ethan Wolf for the first down. There was what? 3 attempts of that ALL GAME where we threw the ball over 5 yards yesterday and 1 of them was called back?? That is BEYOND pathetic and we will not win many games playing like this.

There's no way this isn't Butch Jones or someone on his computer at home. What a joke.

Analytics is gonna be Butch's orange dog/ red dog. I can't believe so many bought into a guy that got out coached by Derek Dooley and Will Muschamp twice. I'm not a negative person so I hate to say that. Do we have to have five star players at every position to beat just the mediocre teams we play? Certainly looks like it. ♠
