“We’re going to play a lot of true freshmen,” Jones said Tuesday.

“We’ve had quote-unquote two Top-5 recruiting classes, but this recruiting class will rival any of the classes we’ve had here.”

“We don’t judge recruiting classes on the rankings,” he said.

“You judge recruiting classes three or four years down the road. Out of the individuals you signed: Were they impact players?
Role players? How many misses did we have? Why were they misses?

There were a lot of steals in this class, glad to see them getting so much praise this early on.

Wonder who the 4 are?

Niehaus,Tatum,Carlin F., JG?

Niehaus, Tatum, Johnson and Guarantano IMO. Don't believe CFA will redshirt, think we'll see him on special teams. Running backs don't really seem to redshirt anymore.

I would have thought more;

JG, CFA, 3 OL, McDaniel, Lewis, Brooks

Also possibly Johnson, Williams, Henderson, and Blakely

Hard to envision 18 of the 22 finding room on the roster to get PT?

Jarrett Guarantano without a doubt. Even he expected to redshirt when he committed.

Alexis Johnson is a real possibility. Although he a is a JUCO transfer he still has his RS available.

Mykelle McDaniel is almost for sure going to RS. He entered the class late and didn't get to campus until fall camp was half over.

Jeremy Lewis more or less takes the spot of Joe Young and will RS. Most people think Carlin Fils-aime will redshirt, but history says when the Vols get up big, they will play more guys just like that played both Kelly and Joe young last year.

Nathan Niehaus is a good candidate to also Redshirt. I think Tatum and Johnson could, but will likely get playing time on special teams at bare minimum.

Everyone else plays.

I'm excited about the condition of Tennessee Football. It's getting serious, and everyone is watching.

I hope we don't disappoint. Or else the fans/media, etc. will start all the crazy "fire him" talk.
We better get it done. Now.

Please let one of them be the quarterback. We have too much experience burning QBs red-shirts. For example, I would have loved for Dobbs to be the starter next year. With the extra year he'd likely be rocking as a senior. Oh well... maybe the tax slayer bowl was worth it. It is a pretty trophy and the team did get some extra practice.

You think McDaniel will play - 198 lb DE?

Forgot about him. No, definitely a redshirt. Perhaps Tatum stays active this year. Heard PFort singing his praises per coaches and other players a few days ago. Now that we're a little thin at OT with Hall's injury, maybe Tatum has packed on enough weight to help.

I think Hall's injury meant that two of the three were going to play.

I've got JG, Brooks, Neihaus, and McDaniel

I am looking at 4 as more of an estimate than a hard number. Lots of factors makes it very fluid.

3 obvious ones would be the 3 OL guys. With Hall out, that could press one of them into service early. And if Dobbs, Dormady, and Jones cover their position, I would think Guarantano would be another.

One other might be Davante Brooks or Austin Pope if they feel the TEs from last year can allow one of them to RS. If the Wolf brothers and Croom ball out, I could see both, but they will probably need at least one of them.

But the prime candidate might be Mykelle McDaniel. He got here way late, and needs time to grasp the system more than the others.
