It's awesome to see a big smile on Kelly's face the whole time. U can tell he's really trying to take it all in.

Winning is uplifting, but the guys seemed to enjoy the press conference. JK looked like he was having fun with it. He may have been a little nervous, but appears to be a nice young man. JM and JD kept looking at something (printout, cell phone or something), which made JD chuckle a few times.

Begs the question as to why Butch didn't initiate action sooner...

Are you serious? There's no winning with some of you Butch haters. Please find another outlet for your negativity and bitterness; Butch is not going any where and may just end up bringing TN the rest of the way back.

I'm too happy about this Tech win to let the haters get me down.

I agree with his philosophy of "small victories" beget more victories or achievements, however using bowl eligibility as an achievement isn't the next step. His example of a business measuring sales success would imply that the company stops and celebrates in 2016 for achieving the sales threshold of 2015. Just because you achieved that goal again, albeit sooner, you don't even acknowledge it; that was to be expected.

Just because we did what we were supposed to do,doesn't mean the coaching staff is any better than what we've seen the past 8 games.

How good is TN Tech, per this Butch interview?

One of the best teams in the country? Playmakers all over the field?

Something along those lines?

If your idea of "bringing us back" is 8-4/9-3, please stop using the phrase "us".

For the majority of Vol history we have been a 9-10 win team tops. We had good stretches like the late 90s and the Neyland years, but 9 wins is where we should be as a program annually with the occasional 10-12 wins. Expecting the latter conisrantly with the occasional 9 wins is not realistic.

Hmmm. Before Dabo where was Clemson historically? Before Saban, where was Alabama historically? Having high expectations isn't being unrealistic. It is setting a mark that says we can be better, we can improve, we can be among the best in the nation, and we should be.

10 wins with being SEC east champs is still a possibility. I would say that qualifies as being back as long as he can do it a few times.

You can't have it both ways. People are angry he didnt work out and some are angry he didnt kick off sooner. Well which one is it? Don't know if we have ever seen such a star player do what Hurd did. A cancer is a cancer and I don't know if we realize how bad he hurt the team. Hope youre reading this Vol74.

There are a lot of programs - Notre Dame, UCLA, Oregon and others that would like to celebrate bowl eligibility right now.

Watching the Vols since the 1960s, there has never been a situation similar to Hurd. Butch will not experience a star meltdown like that ever again - it happened and everyone needs to move on. It is a good lesson for me-first athletes that they can be replaced by younger hungrier guys that want opportunity. I think the team and Butch stepped up and did what had to be done in an unprecedented situation.

With what we have had for the last 10 years and to be at 9-10 wins at this point is remarkable. The future will be better than the recent past and the stability I want should be established in the next couple of years.
