Butch Tennessee Tech Post Game Presser

Differing opinions is one of the characteristics that makes us such a great fan base. There's absolutely nothing wrong with someone offering an opinion then letting others challenge that opinion with thoughtful arguments. Disagreement is good and it forces the critical review of one's own thoughts, positions, and observations.

Regarding yesterday's game, it was nothing more than a scrimmage in Neyland, under the lights, and on a big stage of around 90k fans as well as a significant TV audience. However, it was a great opportunity to "press the reset button" on the rest of this season. The same technical problems the team had before this game are undoubtedly still present, but the game has to have done wonders for team confidence and unit chemistry. Not to mention, it gave many on the roster the opportunity to take their first (and maybe only) snaps on Shields-Watkins Field.

The team will need that boost against UK and Vandy---both of those teams are playing with belief right now, and both of those teams stand in the way of the Vols opportunity to make it to ATL. Hopefully, our Vols take a renewed approach to remainder of the season. Fair or not, winning the East this year has been the metric by which much of the fan base and various outside observers are judging the overall achievement of Team 120.

There are a lot of programs - Notre Dame, UCLA, Oregon and others that would like to celebrate bowl eligibility right now.

Ok. So we should be proud because others aren't bowl eiligble but want to be? UT should be bowl eligible, it was expected.

Just because we did what we were supposed to do,doesn't mean the coaching staff is any better than what we've seen the past 8 games.

We were NOT supposed to lose 3 games...and especially NOT to USCe....in anyone's prediction for this team....2 loss talent on this team at worst....in reality, should be 8-1--but loss to aTm definitely NOT on coaches. :salute:

This is incorrect. Please refer to the "2016 so far" thread.

No sir, you are incorrect....please refer to Sportswriters and Coach's--who carry a lot more cred than anyone on this site--including yours truly!

Preseason HYPE had us ranked 9 in AP, and 10th in Coach's poll....and almost everyone here was griping!

The only team from the SEC ranked higher than us was Bama--and this seems to infer that both Coaches and Sportswriters believed we were better than all other teams in SEC.

Two weeks ago we were still ranked 18 in AP and Coach's poll....but with both aTm and Fla above us....And Auburn, too....

That seems fairly clear to me that NO ONE expected us to lose any remaining games after being beaten by Bama--least of all to a pathetic USCe team that was in shambles on both offense and defense.....even with all of our injuries....:peace2:

You can.listen to talking heads or math. It is your choice. Be careful, however, if you are going to cite "facts".

How good is TN Tech, per this Butch interview?

One of the best teams in the country? Playmakers all over the field?

Something along those lines?

UT-Martin beat Tech 44-23. Any more questions?

It is what it is. A feel good game that allowed a lot of back ups to get reps. Vols showed up early and coasted the rest of the way.
